Vietnam women's futsal team wins 2-0 against Philippines.

In a situation where they needed to secure all three points to keep their hopes of advancing alive, the Vietnamese women's futsal team played proactively, dominated the game, and won 2-0 against the Philippines women's futsal team in the second match of Group B at the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship.

Entering the match on February 25th under pressure after an unfavorable opening result, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's players quickly pushed forward, launching attacks from the very first minutes. This proactive approach was evident in the 5th minute when Thanh Ngan made a powerful breakthrough, beating the opposing goalkeeper before scoring the opening goal for the Vietnamese women.

Following an early goal, the Vietnamese women's futsal team continued to maintain pressure. Many opportunities were created in the first half, notably shots from Bien Thi Hang and Phuong Anh, but the excellent performance of goalkeeper Hughes and a lack of accuracy in finishing kept the 1-0 score unchanged until halftime. Most unfortunately, in the 16th minute, Thanh Ngan failed to convert a penalty to double the lead.

In the second half, the Vietnamese girls continued to control the game and constantly increased the pressure. The Philippines tried to keep possession in an attempt to find an equalizer, but failed to create many significant dangerous situations against the focused defense of the red-shirted team.

After several missed opportunities, the second goal finally came in the 36th minute. Following a well-executed corner kick, Bien Thi Hang unleashed a powerful diagonal shot into the net, increasing the score to 2-0.

In the final minutes, the Philippines switched to a power-play strategy in an attempt to narrow the gap, but the Vietnamese women's futsal team remained focused to preserve their lead.

In the end, the Vietnamese women's futsal team won 2-0, thus maintaining their chances of competing for a spot in the next round in Group B of the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship. This is considered an important result, creating positive momentum for coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team in the following matches.

In their final group stage match, the Vietnamese women's futsal team will face the Myanmar women's futsal team at 1:30 PM on February 26th.
