These days, the roads leading to Dao Tru commune are ablaze with red flags and banners. For the San Diu ethnic people living at the foot of Tam Dao mountain, the election of representatives to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is not only a major political event, but also a grand festival – where they place their trust and expectations in those who represent the voice of the people.

At the cultural centers of the villages in Dao Tru commune, the voter list is prominently displayed, attracting the attention of the local people.

Arriving in Dao Tru commune – one of the localities with a large population of San Diu ethnic people (accounting for 76% of the population) – we clearly felt the bustling atmosphere. After the merger of two administrative units, Dao Tru and Yen Duong communes, the local landscape is changing day by day. At the cultural centers of the 21 villages, the voter lists and brief biographies of the candidates are prominently displayed, attracting the attention of the people.

Underneath their traditional indigo-dyed clothing, the elderly and young San Diu people took advantage of their lunch break to discuss the upcoming appointments of those who will be in charge of governing. Meritorious Artisan Le Dai Nam, Chairman of the Soong Co Club in Dao Tru commune, shared: “The San Diu people are very happy. This time, the Party and the State are paying more attention to our people; roads are being paved with concrete, and electricity and water are reaching our homes. We told each other that we must carefully review their biographies and choose the right people with virtue, talent, compassion for the people, and concern for the community to elect as representatives to the National Assembly and People's Councils.”

A distinctive feature of the election preparations in Dao Tru is the "softening" of the propaganda content. The dry regulations regarding the rights and obligations of voters have been skillfully integrated by artisans and villagers into the smooth melodies of Soong Co folk songs. The simple songs about election day resonate throughout the villages, helping the information deeply penetrate the minds of each citizen. In addition, the interplay between tradition and modernity is also noteworthy. Many young San Diu people actively guide their grandparents and parents on how to look up candidate information through the VNeID application and the electronic portal, creating a democratic, transparent, and approachable atmosphere.

Dao Tru commune has 4 electoral units with 22 polling stations. To ensure the election day's success, the commune's People's Committee directed the promotion of visual propaganda with a system of vibrant banners and billboards. Slogans such as "Electing National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels is a festival for all the people," combined with the atmosphere of emulation to celebrate the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party, created a new wave of energy.

Standing before the list of candidates, Ms. On Thi Ba from Dao Tru Ha village expressed her expectations: “I hope that the elected person will be a bridge, close to the people, listening to their concerns and making suggestions to relevant authorities at all levels regarding their aspirations, as well as the difficulties and obstacles that still exist at the grassroots level, so that solutions can be found to resolve them completely. This will help Dao Tru develop further, and the lives of the people will become more prosperous and happy.”

In Dao Tru commune, the simple, heartfelt Soong Co songs about election day resonate throughout the villages, helping the information deeply penetrate the minds of every resident.

Comrade Tran Phu Phuong - Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of the commune, said: This is truly a widespread democratic activity among the people to promote their right to self-governance, to choose outstanding and worthy individuals who represent the will, aspirations, and self-governance of the people. Due to the locality's unique characteristic of having a large ethnic minority population, the commune pays special attention to explaining the process in the San Diu language to the elderly, ensuring that each ballot accurately reflects the wishes of the voters. With the close leadership and guidance of the Party Committee, the decisive management of the government, the synchronized involvement of the entire political system, and the consensus and support of the people, Dao Tru is wholeheartedly looking forward to this great national event.
