Associated with digital transformation

Children enthusiastically participated in the book presentation activities organized by the Vietnam Women's Publishing House as part of the 2022 Book and Reading Culture Day.

According to information from the Ministry of Information and Communications , the opening ceremony of the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 and the Book Fair celebrating the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 will take place in Hanoi from April 17 to 21. Localities, agencies, ministries, and sectors will organize a series of activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day starting from April 15.

Digital transformation is one of the key directions that the publishing, printing, and distribution industry will pursue in the coming period. This year, activities related to digital transformation and the application of technology are also emphasized within the framework of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung recently stated at the 2024 Conference on Publishing and Distribution: “Publishing will have to operate simultaneously in both spaces. The old space, with the help of new technology, will be expanded, improving quality and labor productivity. The new space – the online space – will help publishing expand its market, create new products, and foster long-term development. But these two spaces do not operate independently; they complement each other: whichever space is better online should be online, and vice versa.”

Readers filled every seat at a book launch event at the National Library.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also emphasized that an open digital platform will attract many resources for book publishing, potentially unlimited resources. Building a digital platform for book publishers, providing automated and intelligent tools for bookmakers, from writing, editing, production, introduction and multi-platform distribution, creating multiple versions of books in various formats, collecting reader feedback, interacting with readers, and allowing readers to participate in the book production process, analyzing data to serve each customer individually based on target audience, and analyzing data to identify market trends... Cooperation with digital technology companies is the main solution for the publishing industry.

Therefore, one of the important aspects of this year's activities for Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day is to integrate them with digital transformation.

According to the plan for organizing Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day by the Ministry of Information and Communications, this year's activities will be diverse and rich, combining traditional activities with modern organizational methods in line with the development trends of technology platforms and digital transformation, such as: in-person book fairs; online book fairs on technology platforms; in-person and online book fairs; cashless payment book fairs; exchanging accumulated reward points from customers at some commercial banks for book gifts; and combining communication and promotion of books and reading culture on online newspapers and social media.

Discount events, promotions, and customer appreciation events organized by publishing houses always attract a large number of readers.

This year, in addition to traditional activities such as organizing book weeks, book fairs, and book distribution months focused on customer appreciation, publishers, printing facilities, and distributors are also encouraged to organize online distribution channels, combining with technology platforms, social networks, and e-commerce platforms to introduce and promote books, alongside programs to donate books to disadvantaged groups; and promotional programs to support readers and develop a reading culture.

This year marks the third annual Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, aiming to bring books to as many readers as possible. Both direct and online promotion efforts are emphasized. The goal is not only to introduce and promote books, but also to promote and honor exemplary individuals and groups involved in publishing and developing reading culture through various media channels, newspapers, technology platforms, and social networks. This aims to widely disseminate the value of books and reading culture within the community and connect readers both domestically and internationally.

Every year, Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day is considered a festival for book lovers. With the increasing number of young readers today, implementing digital transformation activities and applying technology also contributes to attracting young readers, aligning with the reading habits of the digital age, alongside traditional methods of accessing books.
