National Shooting Team shooter Pham Quang Huy is a familiar face to sports enthusiasts.
The young athlete's most talked-about success was the gold medal he won in the men's 10m air pistol individual event at the 19th Asian Games, a precious medal that ended Vietnam's thirst for gold in shooting since its reintegration into the continental arena in 1982.
Young talent of Vietnamese shooting
Pham Quang Huy was born in 1996 in Hai Phong. From the age of two, Huy lived in the shooting environment at the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi because his parents both trained with the National Shooting Team.
Quang Huy's parents are two former shooters of the National Shooting Team, Pham Cao Son and Dang Thi Hang.
Pham Quang Huy began training in shooting in Hai Phong in 2012, specializing in pistol shooting. In 2013, Huy officially became an athlete for the Hai Phong shooting team.

Sharing his thoughts on his successes, shooter Pham Quang Huy said: “After the success at ASIAD 19, I put all my emotions aside because in sports, resting on your laurels won't take you any further. I've had special training sessions to refresh myself and prepare for upcoming tournaments. I think I'm on the right track, but I still need to research, train, and work harder to go further.”
With his tireless efforts and exceptionally impressive achievements, Pham Quang Huy was honored to be included in the list of 20 nominees for the 2023 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Award of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
