The 2025 Gia Lai National Golf Championship, held at FLC Golf Links Quy Nhon (Quy Nhon Dong Ward, Gia Lai Province), left a lasting impression not only on the professional level but also on the organization. With the close guidance of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee and the strong cooperation between various units, especially Tien Phong Newspaper – a co-organizer – the tournament was a resounding success, attracting a large number of athletes, professionals, and tourists.

Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, emphasized that the National Golf Championship is a prestigious tournament, and its success has contributed to creating a buzz and stimulating the practice and play of golf in the locality and region.

"Throughout the tournament, under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the relevant departments focused on the event and coordinated with Tien Phong newspaper to successfully organize the tournament," Mr. Hieu said.

According to Mr. Hieu, golf is particularly attractive to high-end and international tourists, and the strong development of the golf movement also contributes to attracting investment.

"When the province hosts many national and international sporting events, it will attract a large number of countries and provinces from around the world to Gia Lai. This is also an opportunity for the locality to communicate and promote itself, thereby attracting tourists and investment," Mr. Hieu said.

A new direction

Gia Lai is not only distinguished by its majestic natural landscapes and unique local culture, but is also gradually developing distinctive tourism products with its own unique characteristics. Among these, sports tourism is being identified by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism as one of the breakthrough directions for the period up to 2030.

Besides golf, many other sports such as traditional martial arts, beach volleyball, marathon, and motorboat racing are also actively promoted by the locality to attract tourists. In particular, Quy Nhon City, formerly a region with rich potential and having twice won the title of "ASEAN Clean Tourism City," has become a center for organizing international-level sports and cultural events such as: the UIM F1H2O Motorboat Race, the Teqball World Championships, the ITF-BT50 Beach Tennis Tournament, etc.

These tournaments not only provide a strong boost to the tourism industry, but also contribute to spreading the image of Gia Lai as a dynamic, modern, and culturally rich region to international friends.

Gia Lai has identified sports tourism as a new direction. Every year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism actively advises the Provincial People's Committee on organizing national and international sporting events. In addition, it actively implements provincial sporting events to stimulate participation in physical exercise and sports, creating a source of entertainment for the people.

Quy Nhon has twice been awarded the title of "ASEAN Clean Tourism City".

In the field of tourism, one of the breakthrough tasks identified by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province by 2030 is the development of distinctive products such as cultural and historical tourism, beach tourism, night tourism, science tourism, community tourism, and sports tourism.

The success of the Gia Lai National Golf Championship 2025 has partly demonstrated a new bright spot for sports tourism in Gia Lai. At the same time, it has created a positive boost for local tourism, opening up a new direction in linking sports with promoting the image and cultural and economic potential of Gia Lai province in particular and the Central Highlands region in general.
