After more than a month since its launch, the second Photo and Video Award with the theme "Technology with Heart" is receiving active participation from authors across the country.
Through the theme "Vietnamese Innovation - The Path to Prosperity," the award is expected to bring together works showcasing the achievements of Vietnamese technology, creating a sustainable foundation for the country's prosperous development in the new era.
Virtual networks bring real value.
Last year, the work "Technology from the Heart" by author Vu Hong Van ( Hanoi ) won first prize in the video clip category.
With the message "Let's spread positive energy together on social media," the story in the video begins with the "tin soldier couple" Doan Ngoc Bao and Le Thu – both of whom have lost a leg but found love and happiness thanks to social media. Having lost one leg each, they found each other through social media and became a perfect match. They have a handsome son. Their love story began thanks to technology, and now they use social media to tell their story and inspire other people with disabilities.

According to Ms. Vu Hong Van, social media has become a borderless bridge connecting communities, helping people share their opinions, thoughts, feelings, and convey personal messages.
However, in the context of technological development and the increasing diversity of internet-connected smart devices, the popularity and convenience of social networks have both positive and negative aspects.
Reflecting on the wonderful and positive ways technology can change a person's life, author Vu Hong Van has incorporated into her work stories and projects of young people leveraging the strengths of social media platforms to spread positive messages to the community.
Currently, Vietnam has over 77 million social media users. If each person contributes a small part in spreading positive content, "using beauty to overcome ugliness," then humane messages will inspire the community and society will become better. Technology from the heart will spread to the heart, and together everyone will build a successful digital society – where people are happier with the help of technology.

Speaking to a reporter from VietnamPlus online newspaper, author Vu Hong Van said that through her work, she wants to prove that the "virtual" world is bringing real values, spreading positive values, and connecting communities to perform good deeds.
Recalling the video's creation process, Ms. Van stated that one minute was a challenging timeframe to fully convey the message. Post-production played a crucial role in this work because the stories and smaller projects were connected using special effects and narration, as there was no commentary. To complete this one-minute video, she spent approximately one week on post-production.
For the second "Technology from the Heart" Award, participants can unleash their creativity with images and videos up to 90 seconds long to convey a more complete story and message. This is a notable new feature of this year's competition.
Celebrating humanistic creations
For photojournalist Tran Van Hieu (Hanoi), after the award was launched, he, like many of his colleagues, has been working hard to find a subject to work on. Last year, he won First Prize in the Single Photo category for his work "Passion for Robotics."
“After the first season, the 'Technology from the Heart' Award has attracted significant attention from the public and the photography community, not only because of its high prize value but also thanks to the prestige and professionalism of the organizing units, the Vietnam News Agency and Viettel Military Telecommunications Group. I believe this year will see many professional photographers participate and many high-quality works submitted to the competition,” shared photojournalist Tran Van Hieu.

Mr. Hieu believes this is a unique competition, highly challenging and selective, but it perfectly reflects life and the times because our country and the world are prioritizing technological development, and every ordinary person can clearly feel the benefits that modern science and technology bring to daily life.
Therefore, this award not only encourages photo/video authors but also creates a prestigious platform for people passionate about photography and filmmaking to showcase their talent and perspectives on the impact of technology on daily life.
“Modern technology is changing our lives every day. Beyond the technical aspects, the profound humanistic values stemming from technological advancements are making life more beautiful and worthwhile. I hope this award will continue for many years so that both professional and amateur authors have the opportunity to showcase their talents,” Mr. Hieu expressed.
Regarding the organization, he commented that the awards were very well-organized, grand, and professional. The online photo submission method was very convenient and cost-effective for participants, and also reflected the "technological nature" of this award.
Sharing the same sentiment as Tran Van Hieu, photojournalist Le Thanh Tung also devoted much effort to his entry for the award because it was not only an opportunity for him to interact, exchange ideas, and learn from colleagues, but also a professional responsibility of someone working in propaganda.
Last year, he won Third Prize in the Photo Series category with his work on a project by a group of Hanoi students to develop rehabilitation equipment for people with mobility limitations and those recovering from strokes. This project showcased the creativity and humanity of the younger generation, researching medical equipment suitable for the physical condition of Vietnamese people and at a lower cost than imported equipment.

"In the face of the explosion of information technology and the digital age, the theme of this award serves as a 'guiding principle' for every professional and amateur photographer to have more motivation to explore and create from the most familiar things in life, thereby conveying their feelings and messages to see life in a more beautiful light," shared Mr. Le Thanh Tung.
Mr. Tung assessed that the winning and exhibited works in the first season were all of good quality, demonstrating research, exploration, and meticulous investment in visuals, thus affirming the prestige of the award. He believes that the second season will attract even more authors.
“To make the award's impact even more accessible to the public, in addition to displaying it at the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee should consider coordinating with the Youth Unions of educational institutions from high school to university to introduce the exhibition to a wider audience of students. These are the future leaders who will contribute to the great achievements of science and technology in our country,” Mr. Tung suggested.
The second "Technology with Heart" photo and video contest features three award categories: single photos, photo essays, and videos. Each category includes: 1 First Prize worth 50 million VND, 2 Second Prizes worth 40 million VND each, 3 Third Prizes worth 30 million VND each, and 5 Consolation Prizes worth 10 million VND each.
The judging panel will select a number of works to be displayed at the awards ceremony, and the authors will receive a fee of 3 million VND per work.
The deadline for submitting entries is from the launch date until June 30, 2025. The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for August 2025.
