According to the People's Committee of Hue City, the 3rd Hue City Traditional Boat Race in 2024 will be held to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 3 - March 1931, 26), 3 years of Traditional Day of Vietnamese Sports Industry (March 2024, 78 - March 27, 3), 1946 years of Thua Thien Hue Liberation Day (March 27, 3 - March 2024, 49), aiming to celebrate Hue Festival 26.
The purpose of the boat race is to continue to respond to the campaign "All people exercise their bodies following the example of great Uncle Ho", while maintaining and developing the traditional national sport of the people of Hue city.
The Hue City Traditional Boat Race is an activity that always receives the attention of a large number of people and tourists.
The tournament will be opened and played on March 23, 3 on the Huong River and Dong Ba River (Trinh Cong Son Park Area, Hue City). Participating in the tournament are male and female athletes from wards and communes in Hue city with 2024 competing boats (bamboo boats, 12 people). There will be 9 levels of racing with a swimming distance of 9m - 700m/lap.
For Do Cung and Do Pha (3 rounds, 6 shuffles): Start at the viewing table in Trinh Cong Son Park - turn around on the Navel side - return on the Upper side on the Dong Ba River - return on the Lower side on the Huong River (Con Hen side) – turn around the Navel to reach the destination; For levels of Men's, Women's, and men's and women's combinations (2 rounds, 4 swaps): Start at the viewing table in Trinh Cong Son Park - round the Navel - return to the Ha on the Huong River (Con Hen side) - Go to the Upper fender on Dong Ba river - round the Navel fender to reach the finish line.
