At Huu Nghi International Border Gate, an average of over 6,500 people cross the border daily, including more than 3,500 people entering the country.
Mr. Hoang Van An, Head of the Health Quarantine Team at Huu Nghi International Border Gate, said: At the Huu Nghi International Border Gate area, the Provincial International Health Quarantine Center has installed four automatic body temperature scanners. Through these automatic scanners, health quarantine officers at the border gate can remotely monitor the body temperature of departing and arriving passengers using infrared cameras. In addition to the scanners, the team is also fully supplied with relevant medical supplies by the Center to be ready to respond to any unforeseen situations.
Not only at Huu Nghi International Border Gate, but also at Dong Dang International Railway Station and other border gates such as Tan Thanh, Coc Nam, and Chi Ma, the International Health Quarantine Center has installed one automatic body temperature scanner at each border gate and prepared all necessary equipment and machinery to serve international health quarantine and surveillance work at the border gates.
Mr. Hoang Phuc Sinh, Deputy Director of the International Health Quarantine Center of Lang Son province, said: The Center has issued a plan and directed health quarantine teams at border gates to assign quarantine officers to operate automatic body temperature scanners 24/7. All incoming passengers are required to have their body temperature checked using the thermometer. In case a passenger is found to have epidemiological factors and symptoms of infectious diseases, the health quarantine team at the border gate will handle the situation according to the correct procedures.
In addition to strengthening health surveillance, at this time, health quarantine teams are also inspecting vehicles carrying imported goods through border gates to promptly detect and prevent intermediate hosts (such as rats) that may carry infectious diseases. They are proactively trapping and capturing these intermediate hosts to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, particularly plague, into Vietnam.
With the function of managing, inspecting, and monitoring the prevention of infectious diseases subject to medical quarantine transmitted through people, means of transport, and goods entering Vietnam from abroad through border gates in the province, the Lang Son International Health Quarantine Center regularly monitors the disease situation in the world and the region to implement appropriate measures.
According to statistics, from the beginning of 2025 to the present, health quarantine forces at border gates have detected more than 30 cases of incoming travelers with fever, but epidemiological checks revealed that none were infected with any infectious diseases. In practice, with the motto "preventing disease from afar," the international health quarantine forces at border gates in Lang Son province have been proactively implementing measures to closely monitor sources of infection right at the border gates in order to promptly prevent infectious diseases from entering Vietnam through the province's border gates.
