The team has experienced many ups and downs and dramatic events throughout its history, having competed at the lower levels of English football before first joining the Third Division in 1923.
Bournemouth are nicknamed “The Cherries” and their home ground is Vitality Stadium, with a capacity of over 11,000 spectators. In recent years, the club has had a successful run, rising to play in the English Premier League and maintaining a position in that league for several seasons.
One of AFC Bournemouth's most famous strikers is Jermain Defoe, who played for the club at various stages of his career.
