In 2025, Hai Phong city will implement a comprehensive range of flexible solutions to ensure a stable supply of donated blood, meeting the needs for emergency and treatment purposes.

With its flexible approach, the voluntary blood donation movement in Hai Phong in 2025 attracted a large number of people to participate.

Spreading the blood donation movement

In 2025, the city's voluntary blood donation campaign faced challenges as the entire political system focused on reorganizing administrative units at all levels and establishing a two-tiered local government model. This process directly impacted the activities of the blood donation campaign steering committees in many localities, especially during the period when district-level steering committees were ending their operations and the process of consolidating commune-level steering committees after mergers. Many previously planned blood donation programs had to be temporarily postponed or adjusted.

In light of this situation, with the decisive direction of the city's leaders and the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, blood donation activities have been quickly adjusted to be more flexible, proactive, and appropriate to the new circumstances. One of the highlights of Hai Phong's voluntary blood donation work in 2025 is the focus on promoting the role of local communities and expanding the network of blood donation points, creating favorable conditions for people to participate. In many communes and wards after mergers, the blood donation movement has quickly been restored and spread. The City Red Cross actively encourages agencies, units, and businesses to organize on-site blood donation.

In addition, the city's Red Cross quickly opened a permanent blood donation point at its second facility in Thanh Dong ward. The blood donation point began operating on July 20, 2025, regularly receiving blood donations from residents in the area, helping to overcome disruptions to blood donation activities caused by administrative changes.

Along with expanding blood donation points, propaganda and mobilization efforts continue to be implemented comprehensively and diversely. The City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation closely coordinates with departments, agencies, organizations, universities, and colleges to promote awareness through local media and social media platforms. Messages about the humanitarian significance of blood donation, social responsibility, and benefits to the community are widely disseminated, contributing to raising public awareness.

Major campaigns such as the Spring Blood Donation Festival, the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on April 7th, the Summer Blood Donation Campaign, the Red Journey program, and World Blood Donor Day on June 14th... were organized synchronously and systematically, attracting tens of thousands of cadres, union members, youth, students, armed forces personnel, and citizens to participate. These events contributed to supplementing the blood supply, creating a strong ripple effect, and making blood donation a regular and sustainable activity in the community.

Exceeding targets

With its flexible approach, the voluntary blood donation movement in Hai Phong in 2025 attracted a large number of participants.

Thanks to decisive leadership, flexible approaches, and the concerted efforts of the entire political system, Hai Phong's voluntary blood donation campaign in 2025 achieved comprehensive results. During the year, the city organized 95 voluntary blood donation drives, mobilizing over 65,000 people to register, and receiving 61,159 units of blood, reaching 101.6% of the plan assigned by the National Steering Committee. In the first 10 months of 2025 alone, Hai Phong received 47,154 units of blood, ensuring sufficient blood supply for emergency and treatment purposes for patients in the area and providing necessary support to some neighboring provinces and cities.

Not only is the quantity ensured, but the quality of blood donation organization is also constantly improving. Coordination between organizing units and blood receiving units is carried out closely and flexibly, ensuring absolute safety for blood donors. Compensation and support schemes for blood donors are fully implemented, contributing to building trust and motivation for people to continue participating in blood donation.

A highlight for 2025 is the city's focus on developing a sustainable blood donation source among young people. Hai Phong organized a competition to test knowledge and skills in promoting blood donation, with the participation of universities and youth volunteer clubs. These activities contribute to the formation of a force of young, dynamic, and enthusiastic blood donation advocates, ready to support the blood donation movement in the coming years.

In recent times, Hai Phong's blood donation supply has been sufficient to serve emergency and treatment needs for patients in the area and to provide support when needed to neighboring provinces and cities.

“The work of honoring and rewarding has also been given timely attention. In 2025, Hai Phong will have many exemplary collectives, families, and individuals in the voluntary blood donation movement who will be commended and rewarded at the central and city levels, spreading examples of compassion and promoting the movement to develop more widely,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Mung, Head of the Health Care Department (Hai Phong City Red Cross Society).

Hai Phong has clearly demonstrated proactiveness, decisiveness, and flexibility in its voluntary blood donation campaign, contributing to ensuring a safe, stable, sustainable, and timely blood supply for emergency care and treatment of patients. The Hai Phong City Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation received a Certificate of Commendation from the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for its outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation in 2025.
