Over the years, the voluntary blood donation campaign in the province has been implemented systematically and effectively, clearly demonstrating the core role of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation. Following the direction and guidance from the provincial level, the grassroots steering committees have proactively developed plans and closely coordinated with agencies, units, and businesses to organize numerous large-scale blood donation drives, attracting a large number of officials, civil servants, employees, and citizens to participate. This coordinated effort has created a widespread campaign network, making blood donation a regular and meaningful activity.

Previously, localized blood shortages at provincial-level medical facilities, particularly before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, significantly impacted emergency care and treatment for patients. However, thanks to the close guidance of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the proactive efforts of medical facilities in organizing mobile blood donation drives, a stable blood reserve has been maintained, ensuring timely emergency care and treatment.
As the permanent agency of the Steering Committee, the Provincial Red Cross Society has implemented many practical solutions to maintain and develop the movement. One of the effective models is the establishment of a permanent blood donation point at Bai Chay Hospital at the end of 2020. This is a convenient location for patients' families, volunteers, clubs, and the public to participate in blood donation, contributing to meeting the timely needs for emergency blood.
One of the highlights was the "Spring Blood Donation Festival" campaign, organized annually by the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation. In 2026, the "Spring Blood Donation Festival" campaign, held over two months (from January 15th to March 15th), attracted significant community interest. At the end of the campaign, the province organized 41 blood donation drives with 5,153 direct participants, collecting a total of 6,980 units of blood, achieving 116.3% of the target and 28% of the annual plan.

These figures not only reflect the effectiveness of the organization but also demonstrate the sense of responsibility and sharing of the people towards the community. Therefore, for many years, the blood reserve has always been ensured and there is no longer a shortage as before.
The voluntary blood donation movement is not limited to the healthcare system; it has spread widely throughout agencies, organizations, and businesses. Blood donation drives organized at various units such as youth organizations, armed forces, shopping centers, industrial zones, and businesses with large workforces have yielded significant results, contributing to maintaining a stable blood supply. This active participation demonstrates that voluntary blood donation has become a beautiful cultural tradition and a practical act for the community.
Simultaneously, the system of blood donation clubs, organizations, and groups continues to be strengthened and developed. Currently, the province has 46 clubs with 3,157 members, ready to donate blood when needed, especially in emergency situations. Models such as the "Living Blood Bank," rare blood type clubs, and 24/7 blood donation have proven effective, contributing to ensuring a timely blood supply and saving the lives of many patients.
Thanks to comprehensive solutions, the amount of blood received annually has steadily increased. In 2025, the entire province is expected to receive 23,550 units of blood, an increase of 2,018 units compared to 2024. Entering 2026, the movement is expected to remain stable, affirming its sustainability and long-term effectiveness.

In response to this year's National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (April 7th), the Provincial Red Cross Society has issued a specific plan to implement Directive No. 05/CT-UBND (dated February 3rd, 2026) of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on strengthening voluntary blood donation campaigns in the 2026-2030 period. The activities are implemented with the aim of being practical, effective, and economical, while also creating a widespread communication impact within the community.
The target is for 100% of steering committees at all levels, agencies, and units to develop plans and organize activities in response to the campaign; to mobilize at least 3,000 people to register for blood donation and to receive at least 2,500 units of blood, equivalent to 10% of the annual plan. Along with that, the province will continue to focus on developing a sustainable source of blood donors, increasing the rate of repeat blood donations, and promoting the application of information technology in propaganda and mobilization.
It can be affirmed that the voluntary blood donation movement in Quang Ninh is steadily developing, becoming a clear testament to the collective strength of society. Every drop of blood donated is not only a noble act, but also a message of compassion, responsibility, and sharing – core values that create a healthy and sustainable community.
