At the Ecohome Hoa Hiep social housing project construction site in northwestern Da Nang , the final days of the year lack the usual leisurely pace of spring.
Instead, we see the familiar sight of groups of workers diligently drilling, pouring concrete continuously, strictly adhering to technical procedures.
The incessant hum of machinery, mingled with the hurried calls of the workers, created a vibrant working atmosphere in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year).
Engineer Nguyen Duc Cuong, Head of the Ecohome Hoa Hiep Social Housing Project Management Board, said that despite the approaching Tet holiday, the construction site maintains 100% of its workforce, machinery, and equipment as usual.
To ensure the project's progress, the investor and contractor mobilized more than 400 engineers and workers, along with hundreds of machines and equipment, and organized multiple construction teams working continuously in 3 shifts and 4 teams.
Maintaining a high construction pace during the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) is a mandatory requirement to expedite the completion of this social housing project, which has significant social welfare implications and meets the housing needs of low-income earners and workers in the city.
Nguyen Van Chau (from Ninh Binh province ), a worker installing reinforcing steel, shared: “Over the past period, we workers have been working night shifts continuously. Despite the hardship, everyone is trying their best to earn more income to send back to their families and hope to finish the work soon so they can go home for Tet (Lunar New Year).”
For many workers like Mr. Chau, this year's Tet holiday may not be as fulfilling as they had hoped.

However, the timely encouragement and support from the company, along with the spirit of solidarity and camaraderie at the construction site, have helped them alleviate their homesickness and feel secure in staying at the project.
The Ecohome Hoa Hiep social housing project is being built on an area of approximately 4.2 hectares in the Hoa Hiep 4 resettlement area, located in Lien Chieu and Hai Van wards.
The project comprises three apartment blocks ranging from 17 to 21 stories high (excluding the basement), with nearly 1,500 social housing units and 375 commercial housing units.
The project has a total investment of 2,125 billion VND and is invested by Thu Do Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company.
Construction began on August 28, 2025, and to date, the project has completed the foundation and basement of apartment block No. 1; it was approved by the Da Nang City Department of Construction to open for sale of social housing on January 23, 2026, and construction of the main structure is continuing.
Apartment block number 3 has completed its foundation, is eligible for sale, and is currently under construction for the basement; apartment block number 2 is currently undergoing pile driving and foundation work.
“With the attention and support of local authorities and departments, along with experience in implementing many large-scale social housing projects nationwide, we strive to complete and put the project into use in 2027, ahead of schedule, ensuring quality and technical and aesthetic standards,” Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong affirmed.
Observations at many other major projects in the city, such as Lien Chieu Port, the Da Nang Downtown high-end cultural, entertainment, and commercial park project, or the National Highway 14B renovation and upgrade project, show that many engineers and workers are also taking turns working during Tet, maintaining important construction sites.
Specifically for the National Highway 14B renovation and upgrade project, the Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee has just requested the consortium of contractors to urgently mobilize additional machinery, equipment, and personnel; organize construction teams rationally, increase shifts, including night work, and take advantage of favorable weather conditions to complete the project in June 2026 and hand over final settlement in September 2026 as directed by the Ministry of Construction .
Le Dinh Mai (from Thanh Hoa province), a construction worker on the National Highway 14B project, said: "If the contractor requires it and there is space for construction, the workers are willing to stay and work throughout the Tet holiday. We're used to working on construction projects, as long as the work gets done quickly, we earn extra income, and the project is completed soon."
For many, Tet (Lunar New Year) is about reunion and warm family meals. But for construction workers in Da Nang, this year's Tet means extended shifts, hurried meals at the construction site, and brief phone calls home.
Through these quiet efforts, social housing projects gradually took shape, key infrastructure was progressively completed, contributing to the foundation for the city's sustainable development.
