Sustainable production linkages

For the period 2023-2025, Son La province aims to have coffee production account for 6-8% of the total value of the agricultural sector; replant 8,000 hectares of coffee; develop 3,900 hectares of specialty coffee; and export 25,000 tons of green coffee beans per year. The Provincial People's Committee directs the Department of Agriculture to coordinate with districts and cities to strengthen training and guidance on planting, caring for, and replanting old coffee trees with THA1, TN1, TN2, TN6, and TN7 varieties.

In Mai Son district, the province with the largest coffee growing area at 8,569 hectares, more than 1,600 households are cultivating 1,143 hectares of high-tech coffee in 18 villages across the communes of Chieng Ban, Chieng Chung, and Chieng Dong. Mr. Nguyen Khac Hao, Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Mai Son district, said: The district is coordinating with businesses and cooperatives to replant and improve 2,300 hectares of coffee and develop a sustainable production chain to enhance product quality and value.

Mai Son district has three businesses involved in coffee production, collaborating with 2,030 households across an area of 1,583 hectares.
