(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Gulf of Mexico will be displayed as "US Gulf" on Google Maps for users in the United States.

"Those using Google Maps in the U.S. will see the Gulf of America, while those in Mexico will see the Gulf of Mexico. Others will see both names," Google's statement said.
This change comes after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the American Gulf. Google previously stated that it has "a long-standing practice of applying name changes once they have been updated in official government sources."
Shortly after taking office last month, President Trump signed executive orders that not only renamed the Gulf of Mexico but also restored the McKinley name to Mount Denali, North America's highest peak in Alaska. According to the order, all federal government maps and documents must reflect this name change.
Last weekend, while flying over the Gulf of Mexico, Mr. Trump also signed a proclamation recognizing February 9th as "America's Gulf Day".
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on February 10th a change in geographical names. The announcement stated: "Please note that the FAA is in the process of updating our data and charts to reflect the name change from Gulf of Mexico to American Gulf and Mount Denali to Mount McKinley."
The U.S. Coast Guard, the force responsible for patrolling the nation's coastal areas, has also begun including the renaming of the new U.S. Gulf in its public announcements.
