Cold, rainy weather blanketed northern Vietnam last night and this morning. At 6 AM today, January 27th, the temperature at the Ha Dong weather station in Hanoi was recorded at 9.7 degrees Celsius.

In other provinces and cities in the North, temperatures at 6 am were generally below 10 degrees Celsius, including Mau Son (Lang Son) at 0.5 degrees Celsius, Sa Pa (Lao Cai) and Trung Khanh ( Cao Bang ) both at 4.6 degrees Celsius, and Dong Van (Ha Giang) at 5 degrees Celsius.

This evening and tonight, a verstärkt cold front will affect the Northeast, then the Northwest, North Central, and some areas of the Central region. Northeast winds inland will gradually strengthen to level 2-3, level 4 in coastal areas, with gusts up to level 5-6.

Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa continue to experience severe cold, Nghe An and Ha Tinh are experiencing intense cold, and Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue are also experiencing cold weather. Today, the northern region will have scattered light rain.

Other areas in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa will experience temperatures of 9-11 degrees Celsius, Nghe An-Ha Tinh 12-14 degrees Celsius, and Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue 14-16 degrees Celsius.

On January 28th, day and night, temperatures in the mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam will be 5-7 degrees Celsius, with some places below 3 degrees Celsius. Other areas in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa will experience temperatures of 10-12 degrees Celsius, Nghe An-Ha Tinh 12-14 degrees Celsius, and Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue 14-16 degrees Celsius.

The widespread severe cold spell in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa is likely to last until around January 29th, while the severe cold in Nghe An and Ha Tinh will last until January 28th. Snowfall and frost may occur in high mountainous areas.
