The projected number of trains needed for each period is 26 trains in 2025, increasing to 37 trains in 2035 and 38 trains in 2050.

The formation of Line 5 will connect and transfer passengers with urban railway lines 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8, allowing passengers to travel quickly and conveniently from suburban areas to the city center.

According to the Hanoi Capital City Master Plan and the Hanoi Capital City Transport Plan to 2030 with a vision to 2050, the urban railway system will have 10 lines with over 410km. The city is currently adjusting the Master Plan, adding 5 railway lines with a total length of 200km.
