Coast Guard Squadron 202 assists locals in harvesting rice.

This afternoon, June 14th, Tran Quang Vinh, Political Officer of the 202nd Coast Guard Squadron (under the Command of Coast Guard Region 2), stated that in recent days, due to the impact of Typhoon No. 1, prolonged heavy rains have caused flooding in several areas within the unit's jurisdiction. In response, the unit has urgently mobilized forces to assist the people in harvesting rice to minimize damage caused by the storm.

Accordingly, the unit deployed officers and soldiers to coordinate with the Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station and the Gio Hai commune government in Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, to urgently go to the fields to help people harvest ripe rice.

During the day, the unit assisted local people in harvesting approximately 7,000 square meters of flooded rice fields and transporting the harvested rice to dry areas.

Reportedly, heavy rainfall across a wide area from June 11-13 caused flooding in 234 hectares of rice, 17 hectares of melons, 29 hectares of sweet potatoes, and various other vegetables in Gio Hai commune.

Currently, local authorities are compiling a report on the damage to submit to higher levels for appropriate action and assistance for the affected people.
