Police are looking for the person who sent an email threatening a terrorist bomb at Gocheok Sky Dome stadium in Seoul, where the opening match of the American Major League Baseball (MLB) tournament is scheduled to take place on March 20.
According to Yonhap, police said they received a report from an employee at the Korean Consulate General in Vancouver, Canada about an email threatening to detonate a bomb during a match between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers, targeting on superstar Shohei Ohtani and others. The email was written in English and the writer claimed to be a lawyer.
The police are looking for the sender and deployed 30 commandos and 120 staff to search the stadium, but no dangerous or suspicious situations have been discovered. The match on March 20 opens the 3 MLB season in Seoul with the name "MLB World Tour Seoul Series 2024". This is also the first time MLB has held a competition in Korea.
