On the afternoon of July 26th, the Vietnam U23 team held a physical recovery training session in the hotel gym to quickly regain their best physical condition before the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship final against host Indonesia U23 on July 29th.
Following their 2-1 victory over the Philippines U23 team in the semi-finals, the coaching staff of the Vietnam U23 team spent the entire morning resting and relaxing after 90 minutes of intense play.
In the afternoon, coach Kim Sang Sik and fitness expert Cedric Roger conducted training sessions in the gym, which were designed to suit the physical condition of each group of players.
The players who started in the semi-final only performed stretching, recovery, and fitness-balancing exercises. Meanwhile, the players who did not play or played infrequently received intensive supplementary exercises to strengthen their muscles and build strength.

Fortunately, the Vietnam U23 team did not suffer any serious injuries after their semi-final victory. Specifically, striker Quoc Viet did not experience any worrying problems after being forced to leave the field at the end of the match due to a foul from behind by a Philippines U23 defender.
Thus, coach Kim Sang Sik now has his strongest squad available to prepare for the most important match of the tournament against the Indonesian U23 team, who defeated Thailand U23 7-6 in the penalty shootout (1-1 draw after 120 minutes) in the other semi-final.
The remaining task for the South Korean coach is to help the U23 Vietnam strikers improve their finishing skills and convert the opportunities they create into reality.
Tomorrow afternoon (July 27th), the Vietnam U23 team will return to the training ground to refine their strategies for the final match.
With thorough preparation and a confident spirit, the entire team is aiming to successfully defend their championship title.
Vietnam U23's third consecutive final match.
This is the third consecutive time the Vietnam U23 team has reached the final of the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, after winning the title in 2022 and 2023.
This also marks the second consecutive time that the Vietnam U23 team has faced the Indonesia U23 team in the final. Previously, the Vietnam U23 team defeated the Indonesia U23 team in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in 120 minutes of play in the 2023 final.
