On the afternoon of July 26, the Vietnam U23 team had a physical recovery session in the hotel gym to quickly regain their best physical condition before the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship against host U23 Indonesia on July 29.

After the 2-1 victory over U23 Philippines in the semi-finals, the coaching staff of the U23 Vietnam team spent the entire morning letting the team rest and relax after 90 minutes of intense competition.

In the afternoon, coach Kim Sang Sik and fitness expert Cedric Roger carried out training activities in the gym, designed to suit the physical condition of each group of players.

The starting players in the semi-final only did stretching, recovery and conditioning exercises. Meanwhile, the players who did not play or rarely played were given additional exercises to strengthen their muscles and strength.

Fortunately, U23 Vietnam did not record any serious injuries after the semi-final victory. Accordingly, striker Quoc Viet did not encounter any worrying problems after being forced to leave the field in pain at the end of the match due to a foul from behind by a U23 Philippines defender.

Thus, Coach Kim Sang Sik has the strongest squad in hand to prepare for the most important match of the tournament with the U23 Indonesia team, the team that beat U23 Thailand 7-6 in the penalty shootout (1-1 draw after 120 minutes) in the remaining semi-final match.

The remaining thing for the Korean coach to do is to help the U23 Vietnam strikers finish better to make the opportunities they have more concrete.

Tomorrow afternoon (July 27), the U23 Vietnam team will return to the training ground to hone their plans for the final match.

With careful preparation and confidence, the whole team is aiming to successfully defend the championship.

The third consecutive final of U23 Vietnam

This is the third consecutive time the Vietnam U23 team has participated in the final of the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, after winning the championship twice in 2022 and 2023.

And this is also the second consecutive time that U23 Vietnam has faced U23 Indonesia in the final. Previously, U23 Vietnam won U23 Indonesia in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in 120 minutes of the 2023 final.
