Nestled amidst the majestic Central Highlands, the red soil region of Dak Nong boasts not only vast forests and a unique gong culture, but also a global geopark, home to the longest volcanic cave system in Southeast Asia.
In particular, the Krông Nô – Đăk Nông Volcanic Cave Global Geopark is a convergence point of outstanding values in geology, geomorphology, archaeology, culture, and biodiversity characteristic of the region.
Through the lens of photographer Tran Tam My, let's explore the Krong No Volcanic Cave Global Geopark in Dak Nong province with the album "Journey to Conquer the Krong No Volcanic Cave Global Geopark in Dak Nong" to witness the grandeur and many mysteries of nature. This work was submitted to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest, organized by the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications .
The UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark, established in 2015, covers an area of over 4,700 square kilometers, accounting for more than two-fifths of Dak Nong province's natural area and spanning six districts and towns. Within the geopark are paleontological heritage sites such as ammonite, shell, and bivalve fossils, proving that this area was part of a vast ocean during that period.
