The lives of Mr. Nguyen Hung and Ms. Vo Thi Mai, from La Ha town (Tu Nghia district), have touched many hearts because of the hardships they have endured. They shared a truly romantic yet challenging love story. It's safe to say that the love they have for each other is difficult to express in words.

Since childhood, Mai has always been self-conscious about her extremely small stature. Even as an adult, her body remained like that of a child. Noticing her unusual condition, Mai went for a medical examination and was diagnosed with a sex chromosome disorder, rendering her infertile. Saddened by her fate, Mai never considered marriage. But that mindset changed when she met Hung, her current husband.

Mai recounted, "Knowing I wasn't fortunate enough to have the ability to become a mother, I always felt insecure. Although my husband confessed his love to me many times, I always flatly refused and told him about my medical condition. Yet, he didn't give up. He consistently demonstrated his sincere love throughout the more than six years we've known each other. I was deeply moved by his affection, so I decided to spend the rest of my life with him. Even now, after five years of marriage, that love hasn't changed; it's only grown stronger."

Hung's sincere love helped Mai overcome marital obstacles. Hung always defended his wife against the gossip of many people about her inability to have children. More than just love, Hung and Mai's marriage was also about understanding and tolerance.

Looking at his wife with affectionate eyes, Hung shared, "Actually, I know my wife still blames herself for not being able to have children for me. That's why I always try to spend more time caring for her, showing her my love, and I vow to live together for the rest of our lives."

Mr. Pham Van Duc and Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam, residing in Nguyen Nghiem ward (Duc Pho town), also faced numerous difficulties when deciding to get married, as both are visually impaired. It was this mutual understanding and empathy for each other's circumstances that brought Mr. Duc and Ms. Lam together, even though they both knew that married life would inevitably present challenges. Ms. Lam shared, "Previously, my family always advised me to find a healthy, able-bodied person to marry. Therefore, in the early stages of our relationship, we faced opposition from everyone. This is understandable since we are both disabled. To avoid causing our relatives worry, we have always strived to build a happy marriage."

Mr. Duc and Ms. Lam have just opened a massage and acupressure shop. The shop is new, and the number of customers isn't high yet, so their income is only enough to cover rent, living expenses, and raising their child. Their biggest worry is their son, not yet a year old, who has inherited the same eye disease as his parents. However, doctors have informed them that there is still hope for saving his eyesight if he receives timely treatment. The difficulties and worries about making ends meet and the cost of their child's treatment are constant in the lives of this young couple. Despite this, they always encourage each other to work hard. They know that mutual understanding and support are the most important motivation for them to overcome life's challenges.

For over 55 years of marriage, Mr. Le So (80 years old) and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sinh (75 years old), residing in Tan Phong village, Pho Phong commune (Duc Pho town), have faced countless difficulties. In their youth, Mr. and Mrs. So toiled in the fields year-round to raise their four children. Just when they thought they could finally rest in their old age, they had to shoulder the burden of caring for their two grandchildren. Their daughter-in-law died during childbirth. Not long after, their son also disappeared without a trace, showing no concern for his children. Despite both grandchildren suffering from various illnesses, the eldest being congenitally blind in both eyes and the youngest anemic, Mr. and Mrs. So, moved by their unfortunate fate, became their parents, providing for their grandchildren.

Despite their advanced age, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sinh and her husband, residing in Tan Phong village, Pho Phong commune (Duc Pho town), still wholeheartedly care for their sick grandson.

For over seven years, Mr. So has suffered a stroke, so all the household chores have fallen on the shoulders of his elderly wife. Every day, Mrs. Sinh tries to go to the fields to cut grass to feed the cows, hoping to earn extra money to buy medicine for her husband and two grandchildren. Life is difficult, but Mrs. Sinh always has a smile on her face, to be a pillar of support for her husband and grandchildren. “For the past 20 years, despite facing countless hardships and struggling to care for our sick grandchildren, my husband and I have never complained for fear of upsetting them. On the contrary, we always encourage each other to keep trying. Many times at night, my husband and I confide in each other, feeling ashamed and shedding tears, but we quickly wipe them away. Now that we are both old and frail, we only hope to wake up each morning and still be able to see and be by each other's side,” Mrs. Sinh emotionally shared.

Many people have nothing but praise for the affection that Mr. Dinh Van Nguyen (45 years old), from Ha Thanh village, Son Thanh commune (Son Ha district), has for his wife. After giving birth, his wife's health deteriorated due to a heart disorder. Out of love for his wife, Mr. Nguyen single-handedly shouldered all the worries, working hard and saving money to cover his wife's medical expenses and raise their two young children. Despite his busy work schedule, Mr. Nguyen was always there to care for his wife whenever she went for treatment at the hospital.

"I always encourage my wife, telling her that no one can avoid illness and disease. And no difficulty can drive us apart," Mr. Nguyen shared.
