The Long Chau Lighthouse was built by the French in 1894-1895 . It is one of the oldest lighthouses in Vietnam, over 130 years old. Its light can reach 27 to 30 nautical miles (approximately 50 to 55 km) in good weather, helping ships determine their location from a distance.

Long Chau Island not only has a lighthouse but also houses a border guard force and a meteorological and hydrological station, making it of significant importance in terms of national defense and science .
