The journey of a child becoming a soldier.

To commemorate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025) and the 36th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2025), many schools have recently held activities to review the glorious traditions of the army. These extracurricular activities allow students to experience the activities and work of the "soldiers of Uncle Ho."

Recreating history

The echoes of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30th) still linger today as Song Cau Kindergarten (Bac Kan Ward) reenacted the scene of tanks entering the Independence Palace with the participation of teachers and students, creating a moving and meaningful educational moment. The vivid reenactment of tanks crashing through the gates of the Independence Palace on the afternoon of April 30th, 1975, contributed to honoring the nation's glorious history and spreading the message of peace, independence, and national reunification.

Participating in this meaningful activity, Le Hong Quang, a 4th-grade kindergarten student, innocently shared: "I am very happy and proud that the tanks of the soldiers have helped our country achieve peace ."

Alongside this, over 360 students and teachers from Song Cau Kindergarten, dressed in adorable little military uniforms, marched and recreated scenes of wartime in a serious, realistic, yet incredibly charming way. The children made their own rice balls, roasted peanuts, ground sesame seeds and salt, and enjoyed a military-style meal, experiencing firsthand the simplicity, hardship, and yet warmth of camaraderie.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thuy, Principal of Song Cau Kindergarten, said: "Through each small activity, the children understand history through emotions and experiences, something that books can hardly provide completely. Seeing the children's eyes light up with curiosity, focus, and pride, we feel that the school's extracurricular activities have been a success."

Sowing the seeds of the future

The "Little Soldiers" experiential activity at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Kindergarten.

At Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Kindergarten (Duc Xuan Ward), the school organized a festival with the theme "Little Soldiers," creating a beneficial and meaningful playground for preschool children. This activity contributed to educating them about patriotic traditions and gratitude towards the generations of ancestors who sacrificed and contributed to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

This is also an opportunity for teachers and students to review the glorious history and cultivate pride in the traditions of the Vietnamese revolutionary army. In a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere, the children eagerly participate in rich experiential activities, having fun, exercising, learning new skills, and creating beautiful memories at their beloved school.

Sharing her thoughts on the program's significance, Ms. Dip Thi Huyen Thu, Principal of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Kindergarten, said: "Through the 'Little Soldiers' Day, the school hopes to sow the first seeds of patriotism, courage, love, and sharing in children's hearts, so that they grow up with pride and responsibility towards their homeland and country."

These days, many schools from preschool to high school in the province are also organizing meaningful activities such as talks with veterans and soldiers, museum visits, and visits to military barracks… Through these vivid and engaging experiences, students gain a better understanding of history, learn to appreciate the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations, and cultivate love for their homeland and a spirit of unity and courage from a young age.
