Each student participating in the competition is a “puzzle piece” with individual abilities and unique characteristics, but they all share creativity, talent and dedication. By combining two categories: “show” where teams introduce their ideas and practical experience when teams implement their projects, the competition has brought exciting competitions, attracting the attention of students nationwide.

Turn challenges into opportunities to shine

New Generation Students is a reality TV show produced by VTV, not only to find talent but also to inspire the spirit of dedication, creativity and community responsibility in young people. This is a playground combining academics and entertainment - where students are encouraged to realize innovative ideas and projects for the community.

If in season 1 (2023), the program focused on building community projects, introducing the basic format (script), then in season 3, which aired from November 9, 2025, the format was re-established with practical challenges, emphasizing the spirit from "I" to "we", shifting from personal aspirations to creating community values. The highlight is that the projects must be completed within a limited time, both testing skills and training teamwork and project management.

The teams will go through 5 main rounds including: preliminary round - searching and selecting potential teams; qualifying round - presenting project ideas; reality - teams must realize community projects, work in groups, solve real-life situations; dissemination - expanding influence, promoting projects to create social impact; final round - the strongest team is honored and has the opportunity to further implement the project.

This year, New Generation Students gathered 8 teams from 8 typical universities in the North and South, including Dong Nai 's representative, Lac Hong University. The school selected and sent a delegation of 1 lecturer and 10 typical students from the faculties of Information Technology, Oriental Studies and English Language to participate.
programme.

Directly accompanying students participating in the program from the stage of building ideas, perfecting models to practicing presentation skills, Mr. Bui Xuan Canh, Faculty of Information Technology, noticed the daily progress of the students. From being confused in presenting and lacking confidence when appearing in front of the camera, the students were able to express themselves fluently, analyze data clearly and defend their views convincingly.

Mr. Bui Xuan Canh shared: “In research and innovation projects, I always consider each student as an independent individual with their own strengths and values. The first thing a lecturer does is to correctly identify each student’s abilities, from skills, techniques, design thinking to communication or analytical abilities. When assigned roles that match their strengths, students not only maximize their abilities but also feel recognized, thereby becoming more proactive and creative in the working process.”

At the identity arena selection round, 10 candidates from Lac Hong University demonstrated their abilities and bravery before the judges to find the 5 best members to continue the journey of New Generation Students. As one of the students moving on, Hoang Gia Huy (Faculty of Information Technology) confided: being an introvert, participating in an academic - exchange - debate program like New Generation Students was quite a challenge. To adapt well, Huy spent a lot of time practicing presentation, speaking and debate skills, learning how to speak in front of a crowd as well as teamwork skills. This helped Huy gradually become more flexible, in line with the spirit of a new generation student.

The program helps students practice very practical skills such as working under time pressure, coordinating in groups under filming conditions, receiving feedback from judges and adjusting products right on the set. These are experiences that are difficult to provide in a normal classroom environment.

From the lecture hall to real life

Participating in the program, each team must build and realize a community project. Among them, the Borderwave Project - A system connecting aquatic and seafood products for fishermen by the team from Lac Hong University was highly appreciated.

According to the team members, the project is a digital platform that directly connects fishermen and buyers, helping to manage the transparent and traceable seafood supply chain and support Vietnam in removing the IUU "yellow card". The values that the project hopes to bring are to increase income and reduce risks for fishermen thanks to transparent and safe transactions. Applying technology to digitize seafood data and track fishing journeys. Contributing to the protection of aquatic resources and sustainable economic development.

Sharing about the idea of Borderwave, Bui Binh Minh (student of Information Technology Faculty) said that the idea was formed from a very ordinary but meaningful experience.

“During a trip to Vung Tau with the team, we had the opportunity to talk with local fishermen. They shared about the difficulties they faced: from uncertain product consumption, unstable prices to difficulty accessing market information and purchasing units. Those genuine stories made the group realize that behind each catch of fish are many worries that fishermen have to bear. It was that moment that urged the group to create a practical solution - a project that can help them improve their income, increase transparency and better connect with the market” - student Binh Minh said.

Mai Quynh Nhu (student of the Faculty of Oriental Studies) - the only female member of the team confided: The team had to work together to build a complete project, from identifying the real problems of fishermen, developing solution ideas, designing application models to planning implementation and proposing the value they bring. The whole team analyzed market needs, interviewed target users, created a functional demo and prepared a presentation to introduce the project. In particular, the male members will take on technical tasks and data processing; while Quynh Nhu will be in charge of data analysis, opinion screening and market demand research...

“The competition gave me many lessons in research, solution design and presentation, thereby perfecting my academic and soft skills. Most importantly, the project made me feel a stronger desire to serve the community” - Quynh Nhu shared.

New generation students are entering exciting and attractive rounds every Sunday evening on VTV3.
