Iraola has confirmed he will leave Bournemouth at the end of the season. |
According to The Athletic , Andoni Iraola has informed the Bournemouth management and players of his decision to leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
After three years with the club, the Spanish strategist chose not to renew his contract, despite persuasive efforts from the Vitality Stadium team.
This decision comes amid interest from several teams in Europe's top five leagues for Iraola. In addition, several Premier League clubs are also closely monitoring the 41-year-old coach.
Under Iraola, Bournemouth developed the image of an energetic, attacking team. Last season, they finished 9th with 56 points, the club's best ever Premier League performance. This season, the team continues to maintain its consistency and still has a chance to compete for a Conference League spot, being only 2 points behind 7th place.
Notably, Iraola achieved these results amidst constant squad changes. Bournemouth sold several key players for a total of £253 million, but still maintained their identity and competitiveness.
Iraola's final home game will be against Manchester City on May 17th, before concluding the season with an away trip to Nottingham Forest.
Iraola's departure not only created a huge void at Bournemouth, but also triggered a series of changes on the coaching bench.
With his reputation enhanced after his time in the Premier League, he is becoming one of the most sought-after managers in the summer transfer market.
