The penalty for MU stemmed from a foul committed by Burnley's Jaidon Anthony, who was accused of pulling Amad Diallo's shirt as the latter entered the penalty area.
Initially, referee Sam Barrott didn't spot a foul on the pitch, but after being asked to review the footage on VAR, he decided to award a penalty to the home team. "I think Diallo fell very cleverly in that situation to win the penalty. There was a shirt-pulling by Anthony (a Burnley player) beforehand, but Jaidon was also pulled by Diallo first, and then Anthony pulled back," coach Parker analyzed.
"The main referee didn't award a penalty, nor did the assistant referees, even though they were only 10 meters away. Someone sitting in a truck, in the VAR room 160 km away, decided to overturn the main referee's decision and award a penalty to Manchester United," the Burnley manager said angrily.
