Coach Shin Tae-yong "sends a signal" to the Chinese Football Association.
On June 16, South Korean newspaper Chosun Biz quoted a representative of coach Shin Tae-yong, confirming that the 54-year-old coach has not yet officially accepted the offer to lead the Chinese national team, contrary to recent reports.

"Contrary to media reports in Indonesia, we have not received any offer or contract from the Chinese Football Association (CFA) to date," said the representative of coach Shin Tae-yong.
The representative also added: "Coach Shin Tae-yong is currently very busy with several different activities, including his position as Vice President of the Korea Football Association (KFA) and his role as General Manager at Seongnam FC."
Regarding his position as Vice President of the KFA, Shin Tae-yong currently works alongside former Vietnam national team coach Park Hang-seo, who also holds a similar position at the Korean football governing body.
Although he denied accepting the offer to coach the Chinese national team, Shin Tae-yong's representative stated: "If we receive an official invitation from the CFA, negotiations can proceed without any obstacles. But so far, in reality, we have not received any offer from the Chinese football governing body."
Previously, after the CFA dismissed coach Branko Ivankovic due to the poor performance of the Chinese national team in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region, Chinese media also listed coach Shin Tae-yong as the leading candidate being considered by the football governing body to replace him.
According to CNN Indonesia , besides coach Shin Tae-yong, the CFA is also considering other replacement candidates such as the coach of the Chinese U.21 team, Zheng Zhi, or Gao Hongbo, the former coach of the Chinese national team from 2016.
