"It was April 2022, one evening while I was lying down reading, I accidentally felt an unusual lump in my left breast," shared Miss Tran Bao Ngoc.
In 2000, Tran Bao Ngoc won the crown in the Miss Vietnamese Women Through Photography contest.
Worried, the next morning she went to a private hospital for an ultrasound and biopsy, and subsequently received a positive result.
"I was shocked because ever since I was young, I've always been conscious of maintaining my health, eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding stimulants, so I never thought I would get sick. When I received the cancer diagnosis and was leaving in the taxi, tears streamed down my face," the beauty queen said.
Tran Bao Ngoc was born in 1978 and has an ideal height of 1.76m.
The following days were a difficult journey battling the disease. Tran Bao Ngoc said she is a strong person, always finding motivation in the most challenging situations. She read books and met with leading experts to understand her illness before making important decisions.
She started modeling at a very young age.
"Initially, I accepted the results and kept them to myself. Only after understanding the treatment plan did I inform my family."
Of course, there were times when I felt very weak. But that feeling of weakness didn't last long. I even thought that my illness was a warning that I needed to reconnect with myself. There were times when I was so stressed that I ate without knowing what I was eating, or skipped meals and ignored any signs in my body.
Tran Bao Ngoc was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022.
Early detection of the disease allowed me to turn inward, slow down, listen to my body's signals, and make timely changes to my lifestyle and adapt to my new physical condition.
"Although I've faced a difficult period, luckily I still have the health and finances to cope with it. I think I'm on a journey of health recovery," Bao Ngoc shared about her challenging journey.
Bao Ngoc said that even though she sometimes felt down, she always reminded herself to get treatment and live optimistically.
After several rounds of radiation therapy, she now goes for check-ups every three months. The beauty queen said that her body type is endocrine, so to control estrogen production, she needs to take medication for 10 years.
To capture the moments of her battle with cancer, Tran Bao Ngoc collaborated with Duzng Yoko, the creative director of several fashion magazines, to create an artistic photo series titled "Resurrection." The team, including Phan Dang Hoang, Thuan Vu, and Ja Nguyen, helped her create a beautiful photo collection.
Bao Ngoc said she always reminds herself to live a balanced life, take her medication regularly, reduce stress, and live optimistically.
"During my time in the hospital, where everyone looked the same, healthy and frail, I was always the one who brought out the best in the mood," said the former famous model.
In 1994, Tran Bao Ngoc was one of three Vietnamese models (along with Vu Cam Nhung and Duong Thanh Chan) who represented Vietnam at the Miss Asia pageant in Guam, USA.
Tran Bao Ngoc was born in 1978 and is 1.76m tall. Thanks to her exceptional height, she started her modeling career at the age of 16.
In 1995, she won first prize in the national fashion model search competition. In 2000, Tran Bao Ngoc won the crown in the Miss Vietnamese Women Through Photography contest.
For a long time, Bao Ngoc was an outstanding model on the catwalk. Along with Duong Thanh Chan, Vu Cam Nhung, Tran Thanh Ha, Thuy Hang - Thuy Hanh… Tran Bao Ngoc formed the first "golden generation" in the modeling industry.
In 2001, at the peak of her career, Bao Ngoc unexpectedly married a lawyer 11 years older than her. They had dated for seven years before deciding to get married. Tran Bao Ngoc currently lives happily with her husband and two children.
