Reporters have long been considered the "soul of the newsroom." In the fast-paced flow of events, producing timely and impactful journalistic works that guide public opinion requires those on the front lines of information to immerse themselves in the process. Furthermore, each journalist meticulously prepares their manuscript to create vivid articles that respect the truth and their readers. Working in Lai Chau , journalists must also overcome the unique challenges of this mountainous, border province at the forefront of the nation.

You need flour to make paste.
Recalling the early days of 2004, when the Lai Chau Newspaper was separated and established, there were no more reporters than the fingers on one hand. Some people came to try out for jobs in the Reporters' Department, but the lack of facilities and the hardships of working in the highlands discouraged many from joining.
"Fire tests gold, hardship tests strength" - undeterred by the sun and wind of the borderlands, these reporters, embracing the challenges and moving stories of love for the land and its people, the strength of the political system, and the aspiration for progress along with the powerful transformation of the "Northwest border" region, have decided to dedicate themselves to the Lai Chau Newspaper's Reporter Department. To date, the department has nearly 20 reporters. Each is an inseparable piece of the collective, working together to bridge the gap between the Party's will and the people's hearts.
Imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "Cadres are the foundation of all work," and to cultivate a team of reporters who are both politically sound and professionally competent, the Lai Chau Newspaper Party Branch has always prioritized improving their professional skills and political theory. The Editorial Board's Planning Department has sent reporters to participate in numerous training courses. Currently, 100% of reporters hold a university degree or higher. Regarding political theory, one reporter has advanced-level qualifications, and three have intermediate-level qualifications. Alongside this, Party development work has also received special attention. Having matured through practical work and the agency's activities, seven outstanding reporters have been considered, trained, and admitted to the Party. The Party Cell of the Reporters Department, with its many young, pioneering, and exemplary Party members, has created a new dynamism and strengthened the fighting capacity of the Lai Chau Newspaper Party Branch in fulfilling its assigned political tasks. President Ho Chi Minh 's lessons on revolutionary journalism are also considered by every reporter at Lai Chau Newspaper as a "guiding principle," a valuable asset in their work.

Reporters from Lai Chau Newspaper and their colleagues are working at the location.

Since the Lai Chau Newspaper was separated and re-established, the team of reporters has overcome difficulties, closely followed the vibrant reality, and created thousands of journalistic works. They have played a core role in serving readers in each issue of the Lai Chau Newspaper, Lai Chau Weekend Newspaper, Lai Chau Newspaper for ethnic minorities in the highlands, and Lai Chau Online Newspaper.

A place where journalists are passionate about their profession.
In recent years, with the gradual investment in synchronized infrastructure and the support of digital equipment, the hardships faced by reporters on assignments in mountainous regions have been somewhat alleviated. However, the baggage they carry back after each assignment still contains many memories of the difficulties and hardships they endured on their reporting journey.
Despite the hardships, after completing their work, everyone feels immense joy at finishing their articles and seeing the hopeful eyes of readers as they read each page of the newspaper still smelling of fresh ink. To overcome these difficulties, access information, and concretize it into journalistic works that ensure timeliness and reflect the breath of life, reporters need courage, willpower, determination, responsibility, and a strong sense of professional ethics and social awareness. The combination of these elements creates a unique flavor of life, acting as a catalyst and motivation that makes journalists love their profession even more. This is affirmed by veteran journalists such as Ha Kim Chi and Khoang Van Thanh – former Editor-in-Chief of Lai Chau Newspaper… Only when reporters are passionate about their work can they truly experience the fulfillment of their journalistic calling.
Indeed, if they weren't passionate about their profession, how could reporters spend months on assignment, staying in the field without returning home or to the office? Or, during the rainy season, when the risk of landslides is high, a group of female reporters from Lai Chau Newspaper are willing to travel to all border communes and border guard posts to write reports about the relationship between the military and the people in border areas. And, despite the ever-present dangers, they write investigative reports about natural disasters, deforestation, illegal mining, and reprehensible acts disguised with perfect facades…
With a passion and dedication to their profession, when our province launched the rubber tree planting campaign, reporters from Lai Chau Newspaper readily volunteered to participate. They spent their days digging holes for planting trees, building contour roads, and transporting agricultural supplies up the rubber hills. But when night fell, the journalists would ponder deeply over each word to ensure their articles were timely and relevant, providing updates on the rubber tree planting progress to the editorial office.
Many events demanded the efforts of reporters, for example, during the province's concerted efforts to relocate and resettle people affected by hydroelectric projects. To help readers and the public, especially those resettled around the hydroelectric reservoirs, understand the policies and regulations, and to promptly commend the pioneering localities and families who moved to new homes for the sake of the nation's future electricity supply, reporters from Lai Chau Newspaper had to work tirelessly between the field and the editorial office because digital equipment for reporting was limited at that time.
Industry 4.0 ushers in a new era, requiring every reporter and journalist to invest in and effectively utilize technological equipment in their work to enhance the effectiveness of their reporting. To avoid falling behind, reporters must not only be present on the front lines of information but also be pioneers in technology. Immersed in practical experience and possessing the skills to use digital equipment, reporters from Lai Chau Newspaper have quickly adapted to multimedia communication. Many of their works have been well-received by readers and have won awards in numerous local and national journalism competitions.
For reporters in mountainous regions, every step is arduous. To immerse themselves in the flow of events, they need not only knowledge and professional ethics but also a high sense of responsibility for their chosen work.
