Adding more color and flavor to the spring season and the Lunar New Year.
Mr. Nguyen Van Bang, Head of Hamlet 3, Nam Trach Commune, told us: "The Ly Trach area, now part of Nam Trach Commune, used to be a semi-mountainous region with a purely agricultural economy . Anyone who visited Ly Trach about 10 or 15 years ago would have seen how poor the people were, with small, dilapidated houses. Then, along with the changes in our homeland and country, the old Ly Trach, now Nam Trach Commune, gradually developed thanks to its children working abroad on temporary contracts and, especially, thanks to the strong shift towards flower cultivation. Everyone was growing flowers, every household was growing flowers. Now, in Nam Trach, tall buildings have sprung up everywhere, resembling a new, civilized, and modern city. Between these high-rise buildings, flower gardens intertwine, showcasing their vibrant colors."
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Bang, flowers are grown year-round in Nam Trach commune, but the largest area and the most variety of flowers are planted during the Lunar New Year. Each Tet flower season, Nam Trach flower village transforms into a fascinating natural landscape with a full spectrum of colors: chrysanthemums, peonies, lilies, gladioli, sunflowers, cockscomb, marigolds, goldenrod, carnations, etc., attracting visitors from far and wide to admire the flowers and enjoy the spring festivities.
"In recent years, many families in Nam Trach, in addition to growing traditional flowers, have also invested in specialized cultivation of flowers such as sunflowers, daisies, and peach blossoms... on large areas so that people can come to visit, enjoy the scenery, take photos, and experience the Tet holiday."

"When spring arrives in Nam Trach flower village, you'll see peach blossoms with delicate pink buds about to burst open, showcasing their beauty to the world. Peach blossoms in Nam Trach flower village during Tet (Lunar New Year) are not just for sale; they also represent the hospitality of the flower growers. Amidst a space filled with blooming peach blossoms, guests and hosts walk together through spring, through the earth and sky, amidst the colors of the flowers, feeling closer to one another," Mr. Bang shared.
Following the directions of Village Head Nguyen Van Bang, we took a stroll around Nam Trach flower village. From one end of the village to the other, flowers spilled out onto both sides of the road. Flower gardens interspersed among residential areas stretched on endlessly.
According to Doan Ngoc Nhan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Trach commune: "In the old Ly Trach area, now part of Nam Trach commune, every household grows flowers to serve the needs of decorating during the traditional Tet holiday. There are about 100 households investing in specialized flower cultivation for the market, covering nearly 50 hectares. Nam Trach flowers spread far and wide, contributing to the beauty of spring and the fragrance of Tet."

Wishes on the eve of spring
In the first spring after Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces were united, celebrating a joyful, warm, and happy Tet holiday together, the flower growers of Nam Trach wished that their homeland and country would be like flowers blooming and showcasing their beauty, filled with happiness and prosperity.
With a flower cultivation area of over 5,000 square meters, this Tet holiday, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huyen in Hamlet 3, Nam Trach Commune, will supply the market with approximately 30,000 chrysanthemum plants; 500 lily plants, along with other flowers such as cockscomb, marigold, and carnations...
Having spent 20 years cultivating flowers and experiencing 20 Lunar New Year celebrations filled with various emotions, Mr. Huyen shared: “Each Lunar New Year flower season brings in about 150 million VND for my family, ensuring a stable life and economy, providing a good education for our children, and creating stable jobs for many rural workers. But the greatest reward for flower growers in Nam Trach is contributing to beautifying homes, streets, neighborhoods, and even the land with the vibrant colors of spring flowers. Nam Trach flowers reach far and wide, to the South and North, allowing more people in Quang Tri province to learn about Nam Trach flower village, gradually establishing the Nam Trach flower brand.”

Like Mr. Nguyen Quang Huyen, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung's family in Hamlet 3, Nam Trach Commune, has also prepared many types of flowers to supply the market for the 2026 Lunar New Year. On an area of 6,000 square meters, Mr. Trung planted 15,000 chrysanthemum plants, 1,000 lily plants, 1,000 gladioli plants, 5,000 gypsophila plants, 4,000 golden shower trees, and 200 pots of peonies.
"If consumer demand ensures that all the flowers are sold, my family will earn over 150 million VND from this year's Tet flower season," shared Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung.
According to Mr. Trung, in previous Tet holidays, traders from the former Quang Tri province came to buy a lot of flowers from Nam Trach flower village. Nam Trach flowers thus gained a reputation for their quality. With Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces now united and preparing to celebrate their first traditional Tet holiday, Nam Trach flowers will certainly have more favorable conditions to attract buyers from the southern markets of Quang Tri province this Tet.
“With the expansion of our homeland, the flower growers of Nam Trach are opening their hearts even wider, ready to welcome visitors from all over the country. And from Nam Trach flower village, the vibrant spring flowers bloom throughout the South and North, in the lowlands and highlands. So that every household can have the beauty of spring flowers to celebrate Tet and reunite with their families,” added Doan Ngoc Nhan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Trach commune.
According to Mr. Doan Ngoc Nhan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Trach commune: Regarding economic development orientation, the Resolution of the First Party Congress of Nam Trach commune identifies farm economy and green economy, in which expanding the area of flower cultivation, forming specialized flower growing areas, and building the Nam Trach flower brand is a sustainable, environmentally friendly direction linked to ecotourism and experiential tourism... This will contribute to increasing income, creating jobs for people, and building Nam Trach flower village into a livable rural area in the north of Dong Hoi city in the future.
