- President Ho Chi Minh was not only a great leader but also a great journalist. Learning and following his journalism style, in recent times, the team of journalists of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station (PTTH) has stayed close to the grassroots, becoming a bridge between the people and the Party Committee and government.
100 years ago, on June 21, 1925, Uncle Ho founded Thanh Nien newspaper in Guangzhou, China, starting the flow of revolutionary journalism in Vietnam. His pen became a sharp weapon, accompanying the struggle for national independence, building and defending the Fatherland. In about 50 years of writing, Uncle Ho wrote more than 2,000 articles. His valuable experience in his life as a journalist has left valuable lessons for generations of journalists.
Journalist Tran Trinh Dieu Hang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, said: In recent times, the Party Committee, Editorial Board of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station have directed cadres, party members, and the masses to promote the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, especially the study of Uncle Ho's journalism style. Uncle Ho's teachings and experiences in journalism activities have become a guideline for the team of journalists at Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station. Studying and following Uncle Ho's journalism style helps the unit perform well the function of providing diverse, timely, and attractive information and propaganda about various areas of social life to the public.
Uncle Ho's journalism style was to be close to the people, write for the people to understand and follow. Uncle Ho's articles were always simple, concise, using everyday language, easy to remember, easy to learn. Following Uncle Ho's teachings, before picking up a pen, every journalist must answer the questions: "Who are you writing for?" "What are you writing for?" "How are you writing?", thereby clearly defining the audience, purpose, and method of writing the work. This is clearly demonstrated through the fact that Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television always develop a plan for publishing printed newspapers, electronic newspapers, scripts, and weekly broadcast schedules for radio and television programs so that reporters can clearly define the topic, audience, and purpose of reporting before writing the work.
Ms. La Thi Tuyet Mai, reporter of the Print Department, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television, shared: I am clearly aware of my responsibility in learning from Uncle Ho's journalism style. In my journalistic works, I learn from Uncle Ho's simple style of expression, the use of common words, a concise, clear writing style, with a beginning, an end, and practical content. After finishing writing, I read it over many times to check spelling, cut out unnecessary sentences, words, and difficult-to-understand words.
Uncle Ho's journalistic works are always closely linked to political tasks, have a combative nature and clear orientation, demonstrating the close connection between theory and practice. Learning from Uncle Ho, the journalism team of the Provincial Newspaper and Radio and Television Station has promptly served the requirements of the province's political tasks; effectively propagated the Party's directives, resolutions, conclusions, regulations, policies and laws of the State; important current events and activities of the province; patriotic emulation movements... Propaganda works in all forms always ensure content, quality, and presentation forms are increasingly innovated; the dissemination of information on social networking platforms is enhanced, attracting a large number of interested readers. For example, from 2024 to the end of April 2025, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station will publish 346 printed issues on schedule (5 issues/week); Broadcast nearly 13,000 radio news and articles, over 15,000 television news and articles...
Mr. Ninh Van Tuyen, Secretary of the Youth Union of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, reporter of the Television Department, shared: I am most impressed by Uncle Ho's teaching that the press cannot be separated from reality, needs to stick close to life, listen to the voice of the people to reflect truthfully and promptly. Therefore, for over 10 years, I have regularly gone to the grassroots, contacted the people, and grasped the field to propagate correctly, accurately, and effectively. "Going by foot, seeing by eye, listening by ear" helps me collect multi-dimensional information, verify the truth, objectively and truthfully reflect social life, the thoughts and aspirations of the people...
In the context of modern journalism facing many difficulties and challenges, learning and following Uncle Ho's journalism style is even more important. It is the guiding principle for journalists to maintain professional ethics, maintain their heart and vision, serve the Fatherland and the People, and spread good values in society.
