These are the sentiments of Comrade Le Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Xuan Hoa Ward, and Secretary of the Youth Union of Xuan Hoa Ward ( Ho Chi Minh City).
Each Vietnamese Heroic Mother has her own unique circumstances and fate, but they all share the common characteristic of noble dedication and sacrifice for their homeland and country. A prime example is Mother Kieu Thi Nong, residing in Thai My commune (Ho Chi Minh City), whose father, husband, younger brother, and daughter were all martyrs. Mother Nong's family boasts three Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. War bombs and bullets took away her dearest loved ones, leaving behind a lingering pain that persists to this day. Yet, she remains optimistic, living a simple life. In her old age, she continues to grow vegetables, raise chickens, clean the house, and cook to care for herself, without needing assistance. Whenever groups, especially local youth, visit, she affectionately advises them: "You must strive to study well, cultivate good character, do what you know well, humbly learn what you don't know, and do many good deeds to benefit society."

In Phu Dinh ward (Ho Chi Minh City), Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Lai has seven children, two of whom are martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the resistance war against the US to save the country. With extraordinary willpower, Mother Lai overcame her grief to fulfill her duty. Mother Lai recounted: “Before receiving news of my son's death, I felt restless and uneasy. The enemy was so brutal, I had no way to contact our side to inquire about my children's whereabouts. By the time I received official news, the event had already happened quite a while ago. It was so painful, so heartbreaking, but I still swallowed my tears to serve the revolution and hoped that my homeland would soon be free from the enemy so that no one else would have to bear the pain of loss.”
This year, on the occasion of April 30th (Vietnamese Women's Day), the Youth Union of Ba Ria ward, in coordination with the Youth Union and Association of the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics (Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics), visited Heroic Vietnamese Mother Bui Thi Day, 89 years old, residing in Phuoc Trung Ward, Ba Ria commune. There, the young people inquired about her health, then together cleaned the house, repaired the electrical system, rearranged tables, chairs, beds, and cabinets, and weeded the garden... After finishing the work, the young people gathered to listen to Mother Day recount stories of the war years. Regarding the strong bond between the military and the people, and the martyrs who were relatives of the mothers and who passed away at the young age of nineteen or twenty, Le Thi Bao Hong, a second-year student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, expressed: “The silent sacrifices of the heroic Vietnamese mothers are a beautiful symbol of patriotism, perseverance, loyalty, and indomitable spirit of Vietnamese women. Coming to be with these mothers, we not only fulfill our duty of gratitude but also learn from and spread the virtues, dignity, strength, and sacrifices and contributions of these mothers to the independence and freedom of our beloved homeland.”
