Students and current affairs questions

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên03/03/2025

The 2025 Exam Season Counseling Program, organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, is taking place in many provinces and cities amidst significant changes and transformations in life. From the rapid development of technology to the innovations and changes in society, 12th-grade students are not left behind in this flow and are always ready to participate in these changes. One manifestation of this is the rather challenging, topical, and deeply concerning questions and concerns that students send to the counseling team during the program.

In most provinces and cities where the program has been implemented, a common question among students is how the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) will impact future employment. From fields like engineering and technology to social sciences, students are constantly wondering whether the professions they aspire to pursue will be replaced by AI. During a program held in Dong Hoi City ( Quang Binh province ) last weekend, a student stated: "I see that in countries like the US and Japan, the education sector has incorporated robots into teaching. Although AI is a very powerful tool not only for teachers but for all other professions, I'm worried that if AI continues to develop, will teachers still have opportunities to teach?" This is not only a concern of the students but also a problem that needs to be addressed in the coming period as technology changes daily.

Current events and policy changes are also of strong interest to students, who follow them closely. The Exam Season Counseling program took place in Hue City one day after the Politburo unanimously decided to implement a complete tuition waiver for students from preschool to high school in public schools nationwide, starting from the 2025-2026 school year. This led to students raising the question: Will teachers be affected by the recent Circular 29 regulating tutoring and supplementary classes, and now the policy of completely waiving tuition fees for students? Similarly, one student frankly asked if the education sector guarantees 100% employment when graduates are both exempt from tuition fees and receive preferential policies?...

If a student provides complete documentation regarding streamlining the administrative apparatus, halting civil service recruitment exams, and appointing officials, how will this affect their future work?

Many students are also wondering how schools will adapt to the changes in new technologies to meet the workforce needs of society…

For any unclear points, students receive explanations from experts to better understand the policies and guidelines, ensuring they can study with peace of mind and choose suitable career paths. However, many of the students' questions also raise concerns and reflections for educators. And from these issues raised by graduating students, schools must outline a roadmap for change, from training to management, to ensure suitability.

Having implemented the Exam Season Counseling program for many years, we have noticed a significant change in how students ask questions. Instead of just small, isolated inquiries, they are now focusing on larger issues, seeking clear answers to help them prepare and determine their own career paths.

It's a major shift for a generation of high school students immersed in technology, adapting to the rapid changes of the times.
