At noon on November 25th, Associate Professor Dr. Duong Nghia Bang - Deputy Chief of the Office of the State Council of Professors - stated that since the announcement of the list of qualified candidates for Professor and Associate Professor positions, the Council has not received any complaints from experts or organizations regarding academic integrity.
According to regulations, during the review process, if there are any complaints or allegations, the State Council of Professors will forward them to the relevant sectoral or interdisciplinary councils of professors for assessment, verification, and clarification of the information.
Depending on the specific content of the report, candidates may or may not be required to provide an explanation. Candidates may also choose to provide a written explanation or answer questions directly from the faculty members during the overview presentation session.

Based on the candidate's explanation and the results of the processing and verification by relevant parties (if any), the Faculty Council will hold a public and transparent discussion and present the results to the State Faculty Council in writing as prescribed.
The Deputy Chief of Office stated that, in the event that complaints or allegations related to academic integrity arise after the candidates have been recognized, the State Council of Professors will reconvene once a decision or assessment result from relevant functional units is available. The Council does not have the authority to resolve all complaints and allegations after the candidates have been recognized and approved.
Previously, several news agencies and social media forums were abuzz with reports of many newly appointed professors and associate professors violating academic integrity and falsely claiming authorship of international publications... among them, some newly appointed professors and associate professors in the fields of Medicine and Economics were mentioned in particular.
On November 20th, the State Council of Professors announced the results of the 2023 recognition of 630 educators who met the standards for the titles of Professor and Associate Professor, including 58 Professors and 572 Associate Professors.
According to the list, the Economics field accounts for the overwhelming majority of candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the titles of Professor and Associate Professor, with 92 people, including 6 new Professors and 86 Associate Professors.
The three youngest newly appointed Associate Professors in 2023 were all born in 1990 and share the same field of Economics: Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nham (Finance - Banking major), University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Phan Thi Thu Hien (Accounting - Auditing major), Foreign Trade University ( Hanoi ); and Dr. Le Thanh Ha (Economics major), National Economics University (Hanoi).
The three youngest newly appointed professors were all born in 1984: Mr. Nguyen Dai Hai (Institute of Chemical Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), Mr. Doan Thai Son (Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), and Mr. Tran Xuan Bach (Hanoi Medical University).
This year, three disciplines/interdisciplinary fields had no candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the professorship title: Linguistics, History - Archaeology - Ethnology, and Literature.
