According to multiple sources, the iOS 18.5 update will be released in the near future. This may be one of the last versions before Apple shifts its focus to iOS 19, which is expected to be introduced on June 9th at the WWDC event.

This week, Apple simultaneously released both the developer beta and the public version of iOS 18.5. This typically only happens at the end of the beta cycle, when the launch date is approaching, according to 9to5Mac .

According to the report, Apple has little reason to extend the testing of iOS 18.5 because this version has very few changes. On the other hand, the two features that were delayed, the Siri upgrade and Apple Intelligence, have already been announced by Apple for later release.

Some features may be added to the final beta before the official release. Currently, iOS 18.5 will receive a few minor adjustments to the Mail app, making it easier for users to customize settings. When the “Back Tap” feature is enabled, a new banner may appear.

In addition, Apple Intelligence will likely be available in the Chinese market. Users will be able to receive wallpapers celebrating Pride Month.

Aaron Zollo of ZolloTech pointed out that the latest beta has a build number of 22F5068A. “The A at the end of the build number indicates we’re very close to the official release,” he said.

David Phelan, Forbes ' lifestyle and technology reporter, predicts that iOS 18.5 is most likely to be released on May 12th or 13th. In case of a change, Apple will choose the following week.

Last year, Apple released iOS 17.6 in July and iOS 17.6.1 in August. Then, iOS 17.7 and 17.7.1 were released alongside iOS 18 in September. While there may be a few more iOS 18 updates, iOS 18.5 will still be one of the last, Phelan said.

The closest sign would be the release date of the Release Candidate, a nearly complete release for the candidate. If it's released on Monday (May 5th) or Tuesday (May 6th), then the official launch of iOS 18.5 next week is almost certain.
