Scientific Conference “Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong and Cao Bang (1st time)”
On December 28, 2023 , the Union of Science and Technology Associations of the province, in coordination with the Institute of History (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences), organized the first scientific conference "Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong and Cao Bang". Attendees included leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives from the Fatherland Front; and several relevant departments and agencies.

The introductory report for the scientific conference on the topic "Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong and Cao Bang " includes the following contents: An overview of the history of Cao Bang province; The research and information gathering process on Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong and Cao Bang; The historical and cultural value of Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong in the life and activities of the Tay and Nung people; The homeland and origins of Thuc Phan and the Nam Cuong state. The project was chaired by the Union of Science and Technology Associations , with Comrade Nong Hai Pin, former Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and former Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations, as the project leader . The project was implemented and surveyed for 17 months (from July 2022 to December 2023) .
The scientific workshop aims to research and clarify the conclusion that the homeland and origin of Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong is in Cao Bang. From there, a plan will be developed to preserve the cultural and historical relics related to Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong . This serves as the basis for compiling dossiers of place names, relics, and artifacts proposed for classification as provincial-level historical and cultural relics.
The seminar presented papers including : The Dong Son culture in Cao Bang; Megalithic relics in Cao Bang at the end of the Metal Age; The issue of ethnic groups living in Cao Bang province in ancient times; An overview of research by domestic and foreign scholars from ancient times to the present on Thuc Phan; The issue of the Nam Cuong State and the origins of Thuc Phan in history; Discussion of place names, relics, and artifacts related to Thuc Phan and the Nam Cuong State in the legend of "Cau Chua Cheng Vua"; Comparison of architecture and construction techniques of Ban Phu Citadel - the capital of Nam Binh of the Nam Cuong State and Co Loa Citadel. - The capital of the Au Lac Kingdom; The process of unifying the Tay Au - Lac Viet community; The connection between the Tay and Nung communities (Vietnam) and the Zhuang people (China) in ancient times; The traditional and current state of worship of Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong; Initial exploration of Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong in Cao Bang through intangible cultural heritage.
During the workshop , delegates proposed solutions to help the research team further improve the quality of their study.
Following the workshop, the research team continued to collect and supplement the feedback received to finalize the findings; developed a research plan on Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong as an independent state-level scientific project; and supplemented and revised the research to highlight the profound role and position of Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong in the history of the Vietnamese nation during the first period of nation-building and national defense. The workshop provided a favorable opportunity for historians and researchers from the central and local levels to further delve into and investigate some unresolved issues regarding Thuc Phan - An Duong Vuong in the history of Cao Bang in particular and Vietnamese history in general .
