Homeworld 3 release date postponed again

According to VGC , game development studio Blackbird Interactive and publisher Gearbox Publishing have once again delayed the release date of Homeworld 3. The game was originally scheduled to be released in 2022, then pushed back to the first half of 2023, now its new release date is February 2024.

As for the reason for the delay, both companies said their main goal was to have the best experience that their predecessors had. Homeworld 3 is shaping up to be that way, but to fully realize their vision, both companies need more time to refine and perfect the game.

Announced at PAX West in August 2019, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Homeworld franchise, the latest 3D real-time strategy game will be set in space after the events of Homeworld 2 .

Blackbird studio's most recent release is Minecraft Legends , co-developed with Microsoft's Mojang Studios.
