Today in Hanoi, more than 2,000 local residents, including war veterans, families receiving preferential treatment, people in difficult circumstances, and self-employed workers, participated in screening for various diseases.

On the morning of November 16, 2024, at Trinh Cong Son pedestrian street, Tay Ho district, Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association held a closing ceremony for the "Journey of Young Doctors Following Uncle Ho's Teachings, Volunteering for Community Health in 2024 - Young Doctors for a Healthy Vietnam" program, along with a screening program for chronic diseases for more than 2,000 people in Hanoi.

Hanoi residents can receive free medical check-ups.

According to Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, over the six months from May to November, we are proud to have seen 21,217 young doctors participate both in person and online; 1,136,135 people received direct medical consultations and examinations, and over 1 million people were diagnosed with chronic lung diseases through artificial intelligence platforms.

Outstanding activities such as the "CAREME - Cardiovascular, Kidney, and Metabolic Disease Screening" program and the "Digital Transformation for Lung Health" program have become highlights, contributing to raising community awareness about chronic diseases, preventive and curative measures, as well as awareness of the harmful effects of risk factors.

In particular, the CAREME program reached, advised, and screened 7,616 people in the community and 5 major hospitals nationwide, detecting many cases of chronic kidney disease - the eighth leading cause of death in Vietnam.

The application of advanced screening methods, combined with artificial intelligence (AI) technology for early detection and timely treatment, will minimize health risks for the population. This is a major step forward in the field of public health , as we effectively bring modern technology to serve the community.

Furthermore, the "Digital Transformation for Lung Health" program has applied digital platforms to support the diagnosis and monitoring of lung health for the population. This program not only helps improve diagnostic efficiency and reduce waiting times but also gives people in remote and isolated areas the opportunity to access modern medical services right where they live.

Following the program, the organizers conducted a summary and statistical analysis, revealing that the rate of people showing signs of chronic kidney disease was approximately 16.2% in the community (compared to statistics of 12% of the population and 17% of the adult population).

These results highlight the growing burden of chronic kidney disease – the eighth leading cause of death in Vietnam – which requires greater attention from all sectors and levels of government to ensure a better quality of life and comprehensive access to healthcare for the population.

At today's event, more than 2,000 people in the city, including war veterans, families of policy beneficiaries, people in difficult circumstances, and self-employed workers, participated in health screenings with the following items: medical examination, basic blood tests, chest X-ray, ultrasound, electrocardiogram, screening for lung diseases, lung cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, kidney function tests if there are signs of disease, and CT scans if abnormalities in the lungs are detected.

Residents in the city will also continue to receive AI-based screening on the platform developed by the Vietnam Young Doctors Association.

Also during the program, many families receiving government assistance and disadvantaged children in Tay Ho district received meaningful support gifts from the organizers of the journey. 14 collectives and 16 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the journey were commended and awarded certificates of merit by the Central Committee of the Youth Union.
