Supporting disadvantaged children
Bling Khải (Bhalêê Ethnic Boarding Primary School, Avương commune) was born into a disadvantaged family in Atêêp village. The natural disaster in October 2025 damaged much of his family's property, making life even more difficult. Despite this, Khải remains diligent and hardworking, earning the respect of his teachers for his strong desire to improve himself.
As Tet (Lunar New Year) approached, Khai was one of 25 children who received gifts of 2.5 million VND each from the Da Nang City Children's Protection Fund (Department of Health ). For Khai, the gift not only helped his family have a warm Tet but also motivated him to excel in his studies. Also receiving a gift before the New Year, Alang Thi La (Ateep village) shared: "This support helps my family have better conditions to prepare for Tet."
Over the past period, the City Children's Protection Fund has coordinated with various units to implement many practical programs to care for children in disadvantaged areas. Specifically, the unit collaborated with the World Relief Organization - Australia to donate 865 warm jackets to students in Tra Giap commune; and distributed 100 gift packages including blankets and warm jackets to students in Lanh Ngoc commune…
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Health Doan Thi Hoai Nhi, the activities of the City's Children's Protection Fund not only provide material support but also demonstrate the concern and responsibility of society towards disadvantaged children. During Tet (Lunar New Year), the organization continues to mobilize social resources, focusing on supporting scholarships, school supplies, essential goods, and improving living conditions for children in disadvantaged areas.
In addition, the Da Nang City Charity and Child Protection Association actively implemented activities to care for children and people in disadvantaged areas during Tet (Lunar New Year). Traveling nearly 170km through mountainous terrain, the association recently collaborated with Da Nang Newspaper, Radio and Television, and philanthropists to organize the "Spring of Love" program in Phuoc Thanh commune, an area severely affected by the recent floods.
Here, the delegation distributed 200 gift packages, each worth 1 million VND, including cash and essential goods, to households with children affected by the natural disaster; they also donated many household items to kindergens in the area. Previously, the association also visited Hung Son commune to donate 210 gift packages and 10 bicycles to poor students, and organized "Zero-Cost Stalls" to serve the people.
Ms. Le Thi Tam, Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Charity and Child Protection Association, said that the association will continue to focus its activities on grassroots levels, prioritizing care for children and people in mountainous areas, especially those affected by natural disasters. The association will maintain programs providing gifts, scholarships, bicycles, and bookshelves to poor students; and caring for the lives and well-being of the people. The association hopes to continue receiving the support of agencies, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the city, with the spirit of "giving what little one has with a big heart," so that every family can have the opportunity to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) fully and happily.

Healthcare for the people
Ms. Ho Thi Nong (70 years old, residing in Hamlet 1, Phuoc Hiep Commune) is from a disadvantaged family receiving government assistance. Because her home is more than 20km from the hospital, she has had limited opportunities to visit a doctor for many years. Upon hearing that a team of doctors from the Da Nang Oncology Hospital was coming to provide free medical examinations, Ms. Nong woke up early and went to the commune center to wait for the team. “After the examination, I was very happy to know that my health is stable. Thank you to the doctors and nurses for traveling such a long distance to provide medical care to the people. I hope this meaningful activity will continue,” Ms. Nong expressed.
Phuoc Hiep commune is located nearly 100km from the city center, and the lives of its people are still fraught with difficulties. To care for the health of the people, Da Nang Oncology Hospital organized a program of free medical examinations, consultations, and medication distribution for nearly 500 residents, focusing on the elderly, families receiving preferential treatment, and those who have rendered meritorious service. Residents received general check-ups, ear-nose-throat examinations, ultrasounds, and medication advice.
The main illnesses detected were hypertension, musculoskeletal pain, and stomach problems. This is a practical activity, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and sharing of the medical team towards the community, contributing to spreading humanitarian values and strengthening people's trust in healthcare.
Similarly, the City's Young Doctors Association recently organized a program to provide free medical examinations, medication, and gifts to 300 elderly people and families receiving preferential treatment in Duc Phu commune. The medical team conducted general check-ups, ultrasounds, provided guidance on medication use, and offered nutritional advice to improve the health of the residents.
Mr. Tran Dinh Trung, Vice President of the City's Young Doctors Association, said that in the coming time, the association will continue to mobilize volunteer doctors and medical staff to go to disadvantaged areas to provide healthcare for the people. These activities are carried out on a voluntary basis, with the hope of contributing to a joyful, fulfilling, and healthy Tet holiday for the people.
