According to data released by the Forestry Department on November 30th, regarding concentrated forest planting, in the past 11 months, the whole country planted approximately 220,700 hectares, reaching 90% of the annual plan; the estimated total for the whole year is 245,000 hectares, reaching 100% of the annual plan. Approximately 92 million scattered trees were planted, reaching 64.3% of the plan; the estimated total for the whole year is 127 million trees, reaching 91% of the annual plan.
Regarding concentrated afforestation, in the past 11 months, the whole country has planted approximately 220,700 hectares; the estimated total for the whole year is 245,000 hectares.
In addition, the nationwide harvesting of planted forests in the first 11 months reached approximately 18.23 million m³ , achieving 83% of the annual plan and 102.9% compared to the same period in 2022; the estimated annual harvesting volume is 20.5/22 million m³ , reaching 93% of the plan.
Notably, the total area of certified forests in the first 11 months was approximately 50,043 hectares. Cumulatively, the total area of certified forests to date has reached 455,205 hectares (achieving 91.04% of the target for the 2021-2025 period).
According to forestry experts, forest certification is seen as the "key" to enabling Vietnamese forest products to access highly responsible markets worldwide . The certification system will help increase the value of forest products and boost income for forest owners and the supply chain.
Regarding the import and export of forest products, a representative from the Forestry Department stated that the value of wood and forest product exports in November was estimated at 1.236 billion USD; the cumulative value for the first 11 months was estimated at 12.97 billion USD, a decrease of 17.3% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 76.2% of the plan.
Conversely, import value in November was estimated at $213 million, down 4% compared to the same period in 2022; cumulative import value for the first 11 months was estimated at $1.997 billion, down 29.2% compared to the same period in 2022. Thus, over the past 11 months, the entire sector recorded a trade surplus of approximately $10.98 billion.
