At the Election Press Center, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, member of the National Election Council, and Deputy Head of the Personnel Subcommittee of the National Election Council, shared with the press about the progress of the elections nationwide.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly stated that at 7:00 AM on March 15th, polling stations simultaneously commenced operations, with Gia Lai and Tay Ninh having many units starting voting early from 5-6 AM.
According to reports from localities, as of 11:20 AM on the same day, 31 out of 34 provinces and cities had achieved a voter turnout rate of over 50%, with the highest being Ha Tinh at 91.64%, followed by Lai Chau with 85.32%, and Lao Cai with 85.22%. Overall, the country has now reached over 70% of the electorate.
"The atmosphere today is truly vibrant. Party and State leaders, former leaders, and local leaders have all cast their first votes in this election at their places of residence or work," the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly shared.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also provided further information about the case of Ms. Duong Thi Sao (109 years old, residing in electoral unit No. 4, My Thuy commune, Quang Tri province) who set an example by attending the opening ceremony and casting her vote in her locality.
Another special case is that of Mr. Le Trong Ngu (100 years old) and Mrs. Vu Thi Yen (98 years old), who attended the opening ceremony and exercised their right and duty to vote at the Dong Trung polling station, Quang Dong commune, Nghe An province.
