The spotlight at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona next week is focused on Honor. The Chinese tech company has just confirmed it will hold a special event on March 1st to unveil its new "trump card": the company's first humanoid robot, marking a strategic turning point in its smart device ecosystem.

The decision to enter the robotics field marks a new chapter in Honor's history since its separation from Huawei in 2020. The upcoming robot is positioned as a "service robot," designed to assist humans in daily tasks, such as helping customers with their shopping.

In addition to humanoid robots, Honor is also expected to showcase another unique concept called "Robot Phone." This is a hybrid device between a phone and a robotic arm, equipped with a camera and a gimbal stabilization system capable of rotating to track objects.

“We believe that in the future, devices will not just be inanimate tools, but true companions. They will be able to sense, adapt, and evolve alongside their users,” said George Zhao, CEO of Honor, sharing the company’s vision.

The extensive integration of AI into the hardware enables Honor's robots to interact more naturally, understand human needs, and react intelligently in complex environments.

Honor is poised to enter the booming market for humanoid robots. According to IDC data, this market's revenue is projected to grow by a staggering 508% in 2025 alone. Chinese companies like Agibot and Unitree are leading the wave, forcing mobile giants like Honor to quickly catch up to avoid being left behind.

In particular, this move is also seen as a strategic preparation for Honor's initial public offering (IPO). Demonstrating technological capabilities in pioneering fields such as humanoid robots will help the company increase its brand value and attract the attention of international investors.

Although the robotics market still faces many technical and cost challenges, the participation of major consumer brands like Honor promises to bring these intelligent machines closer to the daily lives of users worldwide in the not-too-distant future.
