According to Gizmochina, Huawei has quickly regained its lost position since launching the Mate 60 series last August. In the first quarter, Huawei was almost on par with Honor in terms of market share with respective figures of 8% and 1%. The company achieved a staggering 17% annual growth, with the Nova 17,1 series accounting for one-third of the company's total sales.
Talking about Honor, this company achieved 17,1% market share, up 13,2% over the same period last year. Foldable devices and the Honor Magic 6 are said to have helped the brand become one of the notable competitors in the market.
Huawei's rapid growth is notable in the context of persistent supply chain issues that limit Huawei's ability to meet market demand. This was demonstrated with the Pura 70 flagship product line that the company recently launched, although this series of products could help improve Huawei's market share by the second quarter of 2.
The next positions belong to Oppo and Apple with respective market shares of 15,7% and 15,6%, however, the annual growth rates of these two companies are both disappointing. In particular, Oppo smartphone sales decreased by 15,5% over the same period last year, while Apple sales decreased by 6,6%. This may be a result of Huawei's rise. In fifth place belongs to Vivo with 5% market share, up 14,6% over the same period last year.
Speaking specifically about Apple, the company has adjusted prices based on the current situation in the market. However, IDC notes that the iPhone maker may face increased competition from several other Chinese OEMs.
