Not only I, but many tourists visiting Hue now feel that, regardless of the time of day, walking along the banks of the Perfume River allows you to admire the green parks, charming gardens, and breathe in the fresh, invigorating air. These green spaces will not stop there, as Hue is continuing to develop several pedestrian routes, such as from Da Vien Bridge to the Nguyet Bieu and Thuy Bieu areas; and expanding in all directions will create a beautiful landscape for Thua Thien Hue province in general and Hue City in particular, with its diverse topography including rivers, lakes, mountains, hills, lagoons, and the sea. The natural landscape embodies a unique cultural identity.
Thua Thien Hue is striving to become a centrally-governed city based on preserving and promoting the heritage values of the ancient capital and the cultural identity of Hue, with distinctive cultural, heritage, ecological, landscape, environmentally friendly, and smart characteristics. The province's development goal is to mobilize and effectively utilize resources to build an urban infrastructure system in the direction of "Central city and satellite cities".
The history of Hue's urban formation is unique: "Hue was a royal city - a capital city and now a World Heritage City." To preserve, maintain, and develop Hue's urban landscape both now and in the future, the province recently organized a general urban planning project for Thua Thien Hue province until 2045, with a vision to 2065.
Regarding this issue, many experts believe that, in order to build and develop the city of Hue, it is not necessary to construct many high-rise buildings and densely packed apartment complexes with a large urban population. Instead, it is necessary to develop zoning plans, detailed plans, and infrastructure investment projects aimed at building and developing the city sustainably, adapting to and responding to climate change.
Accordingly, developing Thua Thien Hue's urban areas according to the "Central City and Satellite Cluster" model will help reduce pressure on traffic, environmental pollution, urban land, and other social consequences. Connecting the urban areas will be a transportation system, natural landscapes, and green spaces; encouraging people to develop "gardens in their homes, houses in their gardens," building garden cities, "Four Seasons Flower City," "Yellow Apricot Blossom City"... These are cities with a friendly environment, a harmonious society, and happy people.
Thua Thien Hue province is focusing on and prioritizing the development of tourism and industry, especially high-tech and information technology industries, to create breakthroughs and drive in-depth economic growth based on exploiting the strengths and unique characteristics of the locality. In addition to leveraging internal resources, the province is inviting strategic investors and large corporations to invest, especially in projects in the fields of tourism, high-tech industries, renewable energy, and clean agriculture.
Building a smart, green, and sustainable city requires the involvement, contribution, and action of the entire political system and the people. Therefore, in addition to investing in technical projects and infrastructure, it is necessary to strengthen communication efforts, raise awareness and responsibility among the community regarding the protection and preservation of a green environment; the efficient and economical use of energy and natural resources, linked to environmental protection and climate change adaptation; and the development of a civilized urban lifestyle and a green, clean, and beautiful urban landscape.
