Visiting the herbal chicken farm model of Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy, viewers can easily feel the clean and orderly atmosphere of each farming area. The rows of barns are divided into many clear zones according to each stage of chicken development, each zone is separated by a period of time to maintain a continuous supply. Each flock of healthy chickens, smooth feathers, moving flexibly in an airy space shows a methodical care process and a guaranteed farming environment.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy said that before establishing Moc Nhien Production and Agriculture Company Limited and turning the herbal chicken farming model into a farm, he had spent nearly 5 years raising chickens on a small scale.
At that time, he raised them in the traditional way, so his income was not much. However, each year that passed, he accumulated more experience in raising, trading and the initial market.
From the beginning of 2022, when realizing that livestock farming must have its own direction, taking advantage of available and cheap food sources to be successful and highly effective.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy and some like-minded people boldly established Moc Nhien Production and Agriculture Company Limited to expand the farm and raise animals using herbal methods.
It is worth mentioning that chicken feed is processed in a special way with a reasonable nutritional regime. Among them, natural herbs are focused on, using agricultural products as the main food for the chicken flock. The first batches of chickens were raised by the farm with a few thousand chickens and gradually increased to 10,000, 20,000 chickens.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy shared that chicken feed is mixed with many ingredients such as bran, corn and herbs. Among them, there are ingredients related to natural herbs such as green beans, soybeans, fish balls, some types of herbs such as large-leaf tea, elephant grass, banana tree, jade plant, bear bile, and Chinese coriander... With herbal feed, chicken flocks grow well, have high resistance and very few cases of disease occur.
Currently, Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy's farm is using Ri chickens purchased from a reputable supplier in Hai Phong . However, along with quality breeds, the source of herbs for food grown, harvested and processed on-site by the farm are the deciding factors for success or failure.

Accordingly, the herbal food source is cleaned, ground and mixed with agricultural by-products in the appropriate ratio for each stage of chicken development to feed daily.
“The herbal chicken farming model has many advantages, especially in helping to increase natural resistance, thereby significantly reducing the use of antibiotics. We only use antibiotics in the initial short period. When the chickens are over a month old, we will gradually switch to herbal food. Natural medicinal herbs contain many active ingredients that help prevent disease and keep the chickens healthy,” said Mr. Sy.
Currently, herbal chickens raised for about 5 months will reach a weight of 1.6 - 2 kg/chicken, depending on whether they are male or female. The current selling price fluctuates around 80,000 VND/kg. This price is stable because the farm can proactively source food and reduce costs. Thanks to the process of raising with herbs and green roughage, the chicken meat is chewy, sweet, and clean, so it is very popular in the market.
After many successful breeding batches, Moc Nhien Production and Agriculture Company Limited has expanded two more facilities in Dong Son ward and Nam Trach commune ( Quang Tri ).
To ensure a stable supply chain for restaurants and hotels in and outside the province, the farm applies a rolling production model, raising chickens in batches one month apart.
The farm currently has 6 sub-areas, each with a coop and a playground of about 1,200 square meters. Each year, the unit sells 50-60 thousand standard chickens, with a revenue of about 12 billion VND and a profit of 20-30%. In addition to high income, the farm also provides stable jobs for 7 local workers.
Along with his own efforts and creativity to find his own way in economic development, Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy's herbal chicken farm also received attention and guidance from the Quang Tri Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine in technical advice and disease prevention.
The representative of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Tri affirmed that the use of natural herbs as chicken feed of Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy's farm is not only in line with the trend of sustainable agricultural development, but also significantly reduces the risk of antibiotic residues in livestock products. This is a positive direction to protect consumers' health and develop clean livestock farming.
Currently, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Tri also encourages households and farms to apply this model, and will provide technical support, guidance on farming processes, and biosafety control to ensure quality and food hygiene and safety.
