Looking forward to the big day

These days, while mist still hangs over the cornfields and tea hills, a unique atmosphere permeates the remote villages and ethnic minority communities of Tuyen Quang province – an atmosphere focused on the great national event: the election of representatives to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Joy is present in the village.

From the commune center to the most remote villages, from newly opened concrete roads to winding mountain trails, the story of the election is discussed with excitement and confidence. This atmosphere of enthusiasm spreads naturally, clearly reflecting the sense of ownership and faith of the ethnic people in the Party and the State. In many highland communes such as Na Hang, Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen, Dong Van, Meo Vac, etc., the red color of election banners and slogans stands out against the green backdrop of the mountains and forests.

At the village cultural center, the commune's bulletin board, and the community gathering point, everything is neatly and respectfully decorated. Familiar slogans like "A festival for all citizens" and "Every vote - a belief" are not just propaganda slogans but have become a shared sentiment among the people.

The delegation of the Provincial People's Council met with voters and listened to the thoughts and aspirations of the people in Tung Ba commune.

After work in the afternoon, the villagers gathered in the courtyard of the community center, chatting while listening to village officials explain the significance of the election. The conversation was no longer dry or abstract as before, but relatable and everyday. People discussed who was worthy to represent their voice, who understood the people, cared for them, and dared to speak and act for the common good.

Mr. Ly Mi Na, a Mong ethnic minority from Pa Vi Ha village, Meo Vac commune, shared: "For ethnic minorities, each election is a significant milestone. Because through our ballots, our very specific wishes, such as wider roads, newly built bridges, and more modern schools, will have a greater chance of being heard and addressed. This is what creates the widespread excitement in every village."

The enthusiastic atmosphere leading up to election day in Tuyen Quang is created by the systematic, flexible, and very approachable methods of the local Party committees and authorities. Propaganda work is not limited to written documents and meetings, but is delivered directly to villages and hamlets through various appropriate forms. Giang Mi Gia, a commune official in Khau Vai, said: "In ethnic minority areas, commune officials, village officials, village elders, and influential people all participate in the propaganda efforts."

Community gatherings, village meetings, and highland markets all become "forums" for discussing the election. Commune officials use both Vietnamese and the Hmong/Tay languages to explain things slowly and clearly, helping people understand their rights and obligations.

It's evident that people today no longer have the mentality of "voting just to get it over with," but are actively seeking information, asking questions, and expressing their wishes. From who to vote for, why to vote, to the responsibilities of those elected, everything is discussed openly and democratically. This atmosphere shows that the political awareness of the people is increasingly improving, and their faith in the ballot box is becoming clearer.

Spreading the spirit of unity and democracy.

Alongside the propaganda efforts, localities throughout the province are urgently and seriously implementing election preparations in accordance with the law. The compilation and review of voter lists are being carried out carefully, especially in villages with large areas and scattered populations.

Village officials go from house to house, checking each household, performing their duties while simultaneously conducting propaganda and mobilization efforts. Some villages are remote and difficult to access, but this does not hinder their work. Ms. Dang Thi Ha, a civil servant in the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Hong Thai commune, shared: "The commune has 26 villages, some more than 30 km from the commune center, but the sense of responsibility of the grassroots officials has contributed to creating a sense of security and trust among the people."

Furthermore, the consultation process, the nomination of candidates, and the organization of public awareness campaigns integrated into voter outreach meetings were meticulously prepared. These sessions took place in a sincere and frank atmosphere, allowing voters to confidently express their thoughts and aspirations. This closeness made the atmosphere leading up to the election even warmer and more genuine.

As election day approaches, the atmosphere becomes increasingly enthusiastic. In everyday conversations, from family meals to village gatherings, the topic of elections is discussed with respect. From the elderly to the young, everyone eagerly awaits the day they can exercise their civic rights, especially those who will be casting their ballots for the first time in their lives.

In remote and disadvantaged areas, where life is still difficult, the spirit of support for the election further demonstrates the value of democracy. A vote is not only a right, but also represents trust and expectations placed in those who represent them in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.

Comrade Do Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Internal Affairs, stated: "The election is not only a political event, but also an opportunity to strengthen the great national unity. All ethnic groups share the same joy, the same responsibility, and are working towards a common goal: selecting individuals with sufficient virtue and talent to represent the will and aspirations of the people."

From lowlands to highlands, from the city center to remote villages, the atmosphere leading up to election day is spreading strongly. It is an atmosphere of excitement, confidence, and unity, reflecting the unwavering faith of the people of Tuyen Quang in the leadership of the Party and the governance of the State.

As Election Day approaches, along the mountainous roads of Tuyen Quang, every flag, every slogan, every expectant gaze of the people shares the same message: the great festival of the entire nation has truly arrived in the villages.
