Over 300 people were mobilized to put out the fire.

At approximately 4:00 PM on April 5th, a fire broke out in the Hai Mountain area, Chieng An ward, bordering Tong village, Chieng Xom commune, Son La city. By 7:45 PM the same day, the fire was completely extinguished.

Immediately after receiving the report, the City Forestry Department, in coordination with the People's Committee of Chieng An ward, the fire department, the Provincial Police, and the Hai village management board, mobilized forces and local people to participate in extinguishing the fire and clearing firebreaks to contain the blaze. Due to the fire being located on a high, steep cliff, and the existing Loi trees being dry, the fire spread rapidly, making it difficult to access and control.

At approximately 5:00 PM, the People's Committee of Chieng An Ward and the City Forest Management Unit reported to the City People's Committee and the Son La Provincial Forest Management Department, requesting the mobilization of additional forces and the establishment of a firefighting command center. By 6:30 PM on April 5, 2025, a force of 300 people had joined the firefighting effort, including: Fire and Rescue Police, Provincial Police; Military forces from the City and Provincial Military Commands; Mobile Forest Protection and Firefighting Team No. 1, City Forest Management Unit; commune militia forces and the people of Ban Hai village, all working urgently to extinguish the fire.

At 7 PM, due to darkness and the risk of rockslides, to ensure the safety of those participating in firefighting, the Fire Command Center requested the participating forces to move to areas near residential houses, proactively implementing measures to evacuate and guard against the fire spreading to other areas. At 7:15 PM, heavy rain began, and by 7:45 PM the fire was brought under control and extinguished.

Initial reports indicate that the fire damaged an area of ​​approximately 1.5 hectares, consisting of rocky terrain with Loi trees and reeds. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the authorities.
