The iPhone 17 Pro Max has encountered a new bug.

Many iPhone 17 Pro Max users are reporting issues with sound quality, claiming the device produces low volume and unusual background noise when listening to music.

According to CNET , some iPhone 17 Pro Max models are experiencing audio system issues, resulting in unwanted noise from the speakers and a significant reduction in overall volume.

This issue has been previously reported on major tech sites such as MacRumors , Reddit , and Apple's official customer support page. Notably, a member of CNET 's editorial team also confirmed experiencing a similar speaker malfunction.

However, according to CNET , this is not considered a mass-production defect. The news site has contacted Apple and is awaiting an official response.

Jeffrey Mizrahi, a senior analyst at CNET , confirmed that the sound quality on his iPhone 17 Pro Max is "stuttered and distorted" compared to the previous iPhone 16 Pro Max model. Specifically, when listening to conversations, the voices appear distorted and warped.

In addition to low and distorted sound, Mr. Mizrahi also described an unusual static noise. This noise emanated from the speaker when the phone was plugged in for charging via the USB-C port, even when the volume was set to zero.

Reports on various other forums also confirm this phenomenon. The strange noise is described as similar to a walkie-talkie sound and, notably, does not occur when the device is not charging or is using MagSafe wireless charging.

Similar reports of audio issues have been consistently appearing on Apple's support forums since the iPhone 17 Pro Max launched in late September. Notably, some Reddit users have even reported that the audio bug persists regardless of whether the device is charging or not.

This is the latest issue related to the iPhone 17 Pro. Previously, there were reports that the anodized coating on the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max could peel off at the edges around the camera module. Regarding this issue, Apple told CNET that the appearance of small scratches on the coating is due to normal wear and tear during use.

In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is also experiencing software issues related to the Apple Intelligence feature. Many users report being unable to activate or download these AI features, even after updating to the latest iOS 26 platform.
