iPhone 7 can no longer watch YouTube.

Eight more older Apple devices have just had their support discontinued by YouTube, including familiar iPhones running iOS 15 such as the iPhone 7 and iPhone SE.

The YouTube app for iOS and iPadOS has just been updated to version 20.22.1, which requires devices running iOS 16 or later. This means that a number of iPhones and iPads released in the mid-2010s can no longer watch YouTube.

The list of iOS devices that are no longer compatible with YouTube includes the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and the first-generation iPhone SE.

Additionally, the 7th generation iPod touch, the last iPod released by Apple in 2019, is stuck on iOS 15 and can no longer watch YouTube. Similarly, the YouTube app on iPadOS has stopped supporting the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4.

Users of these or older devices can still access YouTube through a web browser at m.youtube.com, but the experience is not as complete as with the app specifically designed for the platform.

Additionally, users of devices that have recently been discontinued can choose not to update to the new YouTube version. The older version will continue to work until the provider removes it.

According to Forbes , Apple products are known for their high build quality and durability. Therefore, a significant number of the affected devices are likely still functional, especially iPads. However, the most recent affected iPhone was released 9 years ago and discontinued 6 years ago.
