The iPhone XS Max and iPhone 6s Plus have officially been added to Apple's "classic" product line.
| The iPhone XS Max has officially been classified by Apple as a 'classic' product. |
On its official website, Apple has just updated its catalog of classic and obsolete products, adding names like the iPhone XS Max, iPhone 6s Plus, several Apple Watch models, and many other products.
Accordingly, in the latest update, the iPhone XS Max and iPhone 6s Plus have been reclassified as "classic" products. The iPhone 6s Plus was launched in 2015, while the XS Max wasn't released until 2018.
Classic and outdated devices both hold special significance for users. If a product is on the classic list, it means that Apple will still repair it, subject to the availability of replacement parts.
Conversely, Apple will discontinue all hardware services for products on the obsolete list, except for Mac battery repairs. The latest product to be added to this category is the second-generation Apple Watch Series.
Currently, Apple maintains a public database of products that the company considers "classic" and "obsolete." Both definitions relate to the time period when a product is no longer officially sold.
Products considered "classic" when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 5 years ago will be classified as "obsolete" if they are no longer officially sold after 7 years.
